My friend and I are having this discussion about baby food vs "adult food", i.e baby apple sauce vs a whole apple or pureed carrots vs a carrot. He said that he heard it is more nutritious and that since it is pureed, it is more easily absorbed by the body. I think that there is no difference nutrition wise other than the possibility of convenience of eating baby apple sauce vs a whole apple or pureed carrots vs a carrot. If anything, I feel like the whole food, "adult food" would have more nutrition since it isn't broken down already. He said that he sees a lot of big guys using it as a snack because of the "extra nutrition". I say that it is just like protein powder, you do not need it if you get enough protein from whole foods. Same thing for all supplements, if your diet is in check, you do not need supplements. As a result, I don't use protein powder. What are everyone's thoughts on this topic?

Is this the same as the discussion about which is better...crushed vs cubed ice? If so, I vote crushed.

texturally, crushed is better by far, but practically cubed is better because the excess surface area of crushed ice leads to a watered down drink faster. so it kind of depends on what you're drinking. usually crushed ice is used for alcoholic drinks and very sugary drinks which don't suffer too much for the extra water. if you're talking about like a coke, its debatable. while, sure it will have a better mouth feel and be colder, it will be watered down much faster. if you don't mind, i guess that's okay but otherwise you need to drink it faster. because its colder, you are then more susceptible to brain freeze.

Baby food will likely be digested faster as it contains digestive enzymes to make it easier on the digestive system of infants.
This does not, however, make it in any way superior to ordinary food in healthy adults.
It sounds to me like your friend has read online from some self proclaimed "guru" and believed them. Is he also consuming simple sugars post workout and eating out of Tupperware?
