What do you mean, "yet"? I've had six mustangs....one I've taken to almost 200K, and two well over 100K. IMO, they're pretty reliable and you can drive them hard, if you maintain them.
There are cars from every manufacture that aren't worth a crap. But as a whole, yeah, mustangs have been pretty reliable for some time.

I'm not a big fan of most mustangs prior to S197, but I know a lot of people who have had mustangs at some point and reliability was never really a big concern. Some interior build quality issues here and there, but otherwise pretty solid cars.
when you read horror stories about mustangs killing the engines/transmissions/differentials/etc. keep in mind that many people drive these things pretty hard.Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

Need to be more specific about what's breaking on his car every few months. Too many factors to consider...a lot of Mustangs end up in the hands of people that modify them in many different ways and inevitably use cheap **** parts that fail sooner than one would expect.
In order, I've had: 1996 GT, 1994 Cobra, 1991 LX 5.0 convertible, 2006 GT convertible, 2003 Mach 1 and now my 2008 Shelby GT500 convertible. They've all been reliable up until I had work done on most of them which is why I have a hard time trusting anybody to work on my cars. When I replace/upgrade parts, no problems because I'm very meticulous about it. When someone else has done something for me, there's usually more adjustment that needs to be done or realigning something because they just wanted to get it done and out of their shop. It's okay to be white

Been toying around with the idea of getting another Fox Body GT. I had such big plans for my old 88 GT i had in 2009 but i was a broke ass working at Taco Bell part time and couldnt afford anything so i sold it.
But damn have the prices on them went up. I bought mine for $2200 and it was in pretty good shape. Now you cant find anything decent for less than $4-5k.I like the tuna here.

Yep, kind of blew me away when I started looking for a project car a couple of years ago before I bought my 11'. I love the old Fox coupes, but no way I'd pay what some people were wanting for those things....I'd buy another 69' Fastback project before I bought a Fox for as much as some wanted.

This thread brings up so many feels. No mustangs currently but will have another one in a few years. Finally like what they're doing with the new style.
Here's my old 90 coupe. Solid roller 351W, AFR 205 heads, C4 w/ transbrake, 33 spline spooled rear. Fastest pass was 10.3x @ ~130 (slip is somewhere).
Pic of a pic. So nice having cell phones now.
I get my fast car fix with my brother's 2009 Z06. I've driven the last 5k miles of the 22k it has on it. Just a vararam and whole lot of fun haha.

Dont even get me started on the notchbacks. LOL. People are asking CRAZY amounts of money for them now. Straight up pieces of junk are on CL with asking prices of $5-$7k. Doesnt make any sense to me.
I may just get into 1994-95 GT's. They are still reasonably prices for the most part. Even the 96-98 Cobras are pretty cheap still.I like the tuna here.

To be honest this is happening with most crap on CL these days. I was on the hunt for a 2000-2006 Single Cab short bed Chevy/GMC to put the drivetrain out of my old crew cab in ... yeah.... fkn JUNK... I cant tell you how many trucks I saw for 7k-10k dollars with salvage titles... or it has 3,000,000 miles on a V6 and the body looks like the back of a fat woman's legs and they want the same money... ridiculous...
So... I changed gears... went and picked this up last Tuesday.. 2/4 drop is on the way , Cold Air is already on , and the tuner is in the mail.
Now I am trying to swing a deal with a buddy of mine that has a 89 notchback that is already set up to put my built 6.0L in and spray the guts out of it.6'2" @ 247lbs

Yeah, there was a nice notch back for sale down the road from me years ago. It went up for sale just after I bought my 82GT....for the same exact price $4500. Real nice...totally regretted picking up the 82 over it (which I loved the 82).
Hey, I have some parts I'm going to get rid of...what would y'all price this stuff at?
Stock CAI with new filter
Stock H-pipe with cats
Stock 11' GT 18" wheels with TPMS working and still installed (tires need to be replaced).
I have an idea of what I want to sell this stuff for, just want to make sure I'm not out of line.

If I could walk away with $400 for the wheels, I'd be happy.
Was thinking walk away with $50 for the CAI and $150 for the H-pipe (cats are still good).
If I can manage that, I'd be cool...it's all just taking up space in my garage. I have a spare mini-compressor I'm gonna sell to. I just gotta get rid of some junk."Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"

Looks good! When I bought my wheels (20x9 front, 20x10 rear), it came with 255-35 front but only 285-30 rear. The rears looked so thin it was gross. I went to 305-35 but they kept scrubbing on the fender lip and actually messed up the paint on the passenger because of it. Dropped down to 285-35 and it looks and fits so much better. It helps that I went with the Potenza RE-71Rs because they seem to be holding the power pretty good.

Man this question is really going to come down to what you like... not everybody digs the same sound... But..
You want just a touch louder than stock... GT500 mufflers , delete the resonator , add X or H pipe
You want noticeably louder than stock... Roush , Borla Attacks , Corsa..etc. etc... delete the resonator , add X or H pipe
You really want to party... use one of the aforementioned mufflers and delete the cats , resonator , add X or H pipe..
You will just have to decide what you want to put up with...
Personally I run a set of 1-7/8 Longtubes , Off road 3" x-pipe , to GT500 quad tip mufflers... nice and mellow cruising but everybody knows you are coming when you hit the loud peddle.6'2" @ 247lbs

Tuners will disable a few things to allow your car to run without cats and not throw a code. When the inspection station hooks the ODB2 reader up to check for codes a few things will show up as Not Ready and you won't pass.
On a side note, **** Texas weather.
I left town for a few days and left my mustang in the driveway. It got demolished by hail. The worst part? I took full coverage off her a few months ago because it's been sitting in the garage collecting dust and doesn't even have current tags.
Anyone know of a good product to get hail dents out? They're small but there's LOTS of them. I'm seriously considering buying a new hood.Sleep Faster
