If I stay here in Australia I will have to live in a mediocre home for the rest of my life. I was thinking that once I finish my degree I would save my money up and use it to invest in houses in Houston before I settle down in a balling mansion there. what do brahs? is it worth moving to the US or should I just stay here in Australia?

Its very real. The homes are going quick though, the market in Houston is exploding. I just posted this in another thread.

most of the East is way overpriced when it comes to real estate but there are some deals to be had, albeit this area is in the boonies:

Australia has more in common with NYC than Texas.. A home like the one pictured in tx would be over 2 mil here.. The Aussie house would prob go for 650,000 .. Not including land.. Not much property included with houses over here..

I strongly disagree. I sweat walking to my car from my back door from the humidity on bad days. I also get seasonal allergies which come in fall and spring leaving me with stuffy nose/headaches/groggy-ness. Last couple years I ended up getting sinus infections. Not everyone has this issue though, I just happen to have bad allergies. I'm looking at moving out of state after experiencing what other cities feel like. Just my 2c.
To be more specific I'm in Houston, but I feel SA/Dallas/Austin/Houston are relative in weather to a certain extent.
