Healthy appetizer for girl's night out?

My girlfriends and I have been planning to all get together on Saturday night. Instead of ordering pizza (thank goodness!) or going out to eat, we are all going to bring some kind of dish before going out.

I want to make something healthy that I can eat so I dont have to end up eating all this bad stuff.

Anyone know of any good appetizers or small dishes that would be good to make (that still taste for the rest of my friends)?????

Thanks so much!

ahh and that should say girls' night out! haha

My Favorite Social Topic

I struggled with this very issue for a few years before I "figured it out!!!"

I love Cookinglight.com for lighter versions of originally, fattening recipes. It's so easy! Visit the website, you can search dishes by a certain ingredient, a category (aka appetizers)...etc...
I love the books by Bill Phillips, "The Body for Life" and the newest, "Eating for Life." Tons of great variety, that taste and look great for all times!
Two other strong sources for me include, but are not limited to: Oxygen Magazine and Muscle and Fitness Magazine. Each month brings new flavors and trends into fitness foods. I'm sure there are many other people out there who have their own scrap-book cook books, with millions of cut-out magazine pages like me... :P

No matter what you choose to use as your source(s) for healthy and fun recipes...some of your friends will regect your food because it IS healthy. Some people just suck when it comes to eating clean! I always choose a recipe I know I can enjoy. At least I have a food that I may eat while I'm at the event. Usually I have a gigantic cooler that is attached to my hip with meals prepared to eat... LOL...My friends hate me when I come over with my cooler...

I hope you find that information useful!

Shrimp Cocktail. Of course you might leave out the cocktail part, while your friends can eat it if they want though

LLB is on a distinguished road. (+10)

Hey

Here's my personal fav.....

I call it a Mexican delight!

2 containers of Fat free cottage cheese
1 containers of salsa
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 brick of Fat-Free cheeses

take a large Pyrex dish put cottage cheese at bottom
add salsa on top
Add all peppers on top of Salsa
Shred cheese and add

Voil?! You have a great dip for veggies or nacho chips?.

Try and make your own nacho chips with whole wheat pitas?.

Cut pita in desired shape
Put in oven until crisp

For added taste as Garlic powder!

Enjoy!

Stuffed mushrooms stuffed with healthy things, turkey meatballs, wheat tortilla quesadillas, etc. Here's a list of recipes, I'm sure you can either find something healthy, or substitute to make them healthy.

Potstickers are always fun.

Most dim sum style recipes are great because they tend to be low in cals and carbs (when steamed) and you can pack the lil dumplins with high protein goodies.

and their fun
