MAN Supplement Log! - Body Octane

    Hey whats up everyone!

The awesome rep team at MAN here on the boards hooked me up with a full container of both Body-Octane '

Here is how the log will work. Each post I make will be a brief description of my training and nutrition on that day and how I felt Body-Octane effected my training, nutrition, and physique as a whole. I will do initial flavor and mix-ability reviews on a 0-10 scale and then I will re-judge it at the end of my log on the same 0-10 scale to see if any of my thoughts or feelings about it has changed. I will also talk about the awesome ingredient profile as I feel lead as I really do believe MAN has an awesome formulation in Body Octane and so I want to spend some time discussing it with you guys who follow along. The container will last me approximately 30 days so this log will last until roughly the 14th or so of September, basically a month from now. I plan to update this log daily so discussion and thoughts can be kept going.

    Here we go!

8/13/13 (yesterday) - First day of using Body Octane

Taste: 8/10 - They gave me the "Lemon-Lime Chiller" flavor. It tastes very much so like lemonade which is awesome. It is a bit tart but that can vary depending on how much water you use with it. I dont think it has a "chemical" taste to it which is extremely nice as many pre-workouts/Nitric Oxide Products do have a bit of a chemical taste to them.

Mixability: 10/10 - Awesome. After a few good shakes of my bottle I put it in it completely dissolves away.

Yesterday's workout was back and biceps which is always a fun workout. It also my first workout after about a 12 day lay off from the gym. Strength was up for sure and the pumps were great which I definitely would attribute to Body Octane, particularly the Beta-Alanine content which is 1600mg per scoop. Body Octane is stim free, which I personally like, as I dont get any crazy rush or jitters with it, just consistent upbeat energy flow.

    The ingredient profile contains:
    Niacin - 25mg
    Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCL) - 5mg
    Folic Acid - 400mcg
    Vitamin b 12 (as methylcobalamin) - 15mcg
    Pantothenic Acid (as D-calcium Pantothenate) - 10mg
    Citrulline Malate 1:1 - 3500mg
    Beta Alanine (CarnoSyn) - 1600mg
    L-Carnitine Ltartrate - 1000mg
    N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine 96% 250mg
    L-Aspartic Acid 98.5% - 750mg
    Histidine HCL 99% - 250mg

As you can see the profile is pretty solid and am excited to see how this will impact my training as the days go on.

8/14/13 - Second day taking Body Octane
    Training: Legs power
    Cardio: None
    Current Macros: 250p, 400c, 80f

As mentioned in my other thread, today was a great session. Hit legs hard. Took 1.5 scoops today because I feeling a little sugglish. I know there are no stims in this but took more because I wanted a bit extra of the beta-alanine. I didn't feel as fatigued while training and I attribute some of that to the beta-alanine in body octane. Def did not feel like lactic-acid was building up like crazy as it normally does when training a big body part like legs. Energy was consistent during the session.

8/14/13 - 3rd day of taking Body Octane
    Training: Push Hypertrophy
    Cardio: None
Current Macros: unchanged since beginning of thread

Today was the first hypertrophy workout I have done since starting body octane. Push movements have been the movements I struggle most with in terms of using heavier weights. I would not say I am week but they are always a tough workout. Because it was a hypertrophy session that meant reps fell within the 8-12 range today. I was excited to see how I would feel fatigue wise in the higher rep ranges to see if body octane gave the endurance it claims. I would say that it did. It was nothing crazy but solid and consistent energy. I notice particularly in the in reps above ten that I did not feel very much of a burn which is a good indication that lactic acid production may have been reduced which is an indication that the Beta-Alanine was doing good work.

In on this one too! The lack of fatigue isn't solely due to the beta-alanine, it's also the citrulline malate. You're going to see some great things on Body Octane!

8/16/13 - Fourth Time taking Body Octane
    Training: Pull Hypertrophy
    Cardio: none
    Macros: 250/400/80

Solid session today. The amount of endurance I felt today seemed more prominent today. It was a hypertrophy day so rep-ranges were higher and I for sure did not feel super fatigued at the end of my sets though I could tell my muscles were indeed worked at each set if that makes sense. Also had some sweet bicep vascularity that normally is not there when I was training Biceps today!

You are completely correct. I noticed specifically the preservation of my strength/power over the course of my session which I know is a symptom of Citrulline supplementation as evidence points towards this in the science world.

Currently doing Push/Pull/Legs periodized like the following:

    Day 1: Push Power
    Day 2: Pull Power
    Day 3: Legs Power
    Day 4: Push Hypertrophy
    Day 5: Pull Hypertrophy
    Day 6: Legs Hypertrophy
    Day 7: Off

I periodize it this way to focus both on seeing strength increases each week so I have carry over in strength to my hypertrophy days so I can push bigger weight in the hypertrophy range. For my power days I use 5/3/1 as my template for barbbell decline bench, deadliest, and squat. Other movements on power days are kept in the 6-8 rep range while hypertrophy days are set in the 8-12 range.

8/17/13 - Fifth time taking body octane
    Training: Legs Hypertrophy
    Cardio: 15 mins elliptical
    Macros: 250/370/80

Had a slight macro change today as my weight loss was beginning to stall slightly. Had a great leg session though. Quad were super pumped to the point where it was painful and had to stretch good in between sets. Endurance felt great even though it was a tough workout, as most leg days are, and I never felt super fatigued. Loving using this stuff as a pre-workout. No gimmicks, just solid ingredients that fuel me.

Awesome! I've been wanting to change up my split and I think I found it.

8/17/13 - Sixth time taking body octane
    Training: Push Power
Cardio: HIT interval, six intervals on elliptical and 200 calories burned
    Macros: 250/370/80

Chest was feeling PUMPED today. It was a heavy day for me so my rep range was in the 5-8 range. I did sets of 5 today on decline bench press which is my favorite compound chest movement. Normally I dont get a huge pump with just 5 reps but today my chest felt full as fuark. Had no problem going straight from weight training into cardio which was good as I was worried that being on lower carbs (for me, was at 550-600g at start of cut) that I would be tired and worn out but my endurance was on point.

Yessir it certainly is. Beta and Cit mal have so much benefit to training that I believe they should be a staple supplement if money allows. Awesome dude glad to hear it! I am a fan of his PHAT training system and the programming I prescribe myself and our clients we coach. We all about progression, tired and true and it works!

Fuuuuuuuuark todays workout was ballin. As you may have seen in my other thread all of my numbers went up today since my last pull power session which is phenomenal. Huge pumps in the lats and bicep and awesome vascularity. Still too fat to have road map veins but thats gonna change quickly! Still having awesome endurance and results are consistent with this product which is something that I feel isnt always the case with a lot of pre-workouts.

Glad you like me. In my opinion I think its most optimal for both muscle strength and muscle hypertrophy to train more frequently such as 2 times a week for each body part. Ive seen the best gains in both when I have trained 2-3x a week for each body part. Layne has a lot of evidence to show this so keep checking him out if your interested. Some awesome stuff.

Took 2 heaping scoops today to pepper my angus for leg day today. It for sure helped tho. Pumps were great and endurance was excellent with the big two scoops. Plugging away and body octane is getting me there one step at a time.

haha glad you like it! You gotta be peppered for hard training days. I would have to agree that the endurance is the best part of it, for sure makes the difference on the tougher workout days.

    Training: Push Hypertrophy
Cardio: 200 calories burned on elliptical
    Macros: 250/370/80

Total bro day today. Push hypertrophy day is always fun: Chest, shoulders, and triceps. Lifts are up since my last hypertrophy day which is always a positive, particularly when dieting as it will help me maintain and minimize muscle loss during my cut. The scale has been between 223-225 and has been bouncing back and forth and its sort of frustrating but I do think I look leaner in the mirror each morning. Not really wanting to have to adjust macros again but we will see. Hopefully not haha!
