    Exclamation am i eating the right things to cut?

    Hi guys,

    i am 154lbs 5ft 10 inches and 20 years old

    i just wanted to get an idea of how good/bad my diet is for my goals? i want to be shredding bodyfat as i am overweight (i would guess between (17-21% bodyfat)


    Typical day:


    Breakfast:
    Bran flakes with semi-skimmed milk

    Snack:
    Apple

    Lunch:
    one sandwich (2 slices) of whole wheat bread with a couple of chicken and turkey slices + a very thin layer of butter

    Dinner:
    Chicken fajitas - whole wheat wraps, red and green peppers and some spices with chicken breast sliced up + salsa and a small amount of cheddar cheese



    im totally lost when it comes to my diet - i hear so many different things from everywhere and im not sure if im on the right track?

    so if you guys don't mind... what do you think of my typical day of food intake ... and any reason why im losing weight so slowly while eating like this? ...

    anything specifically you guys would recommend?

    I don't weigh my food so im not 100% sure but my calorie maintenance is 1950 and i always eat 1500 or less - i am losing weight just not as fast as i would have hoped even if i stay further than 500 under my maintenance, just not sure if im doing something wrong or eating something you guys would see as a big "no-no"

    i lift 3 days a week and do cardio (running/cycling) 5 days a week and im loosing maybe 1-2lbs a week max

    you are what?? overweight at 159 lbs???

    do you even lift? or exercise for that mather.

    instead of asking random questions like you did how about you read the stickies and use the search function.

    You're risking your health with such an absurd diet and if you continue to cut, you'll look even more emaciated and sickly.

    You desperately need to bulk and you probably need to eat about twice as much as you're consuming now.

    you're not overweight man, and there are no "right foods" to cut per say. just need to eat at a deficit and make sure you hit macros

    i ment slightly overweight, which i believe i am (as im not the bodyfat % i would like to be)... so in my eyes im overweight... not to the point of obesity... i just have slight moobs and a belly that sticks out a bit...

    ill find the site i used for working out my maintenance

    You need to put on lean mass then, losing body fat right now, will do you zero favours, I know you will disagree but its true, the sooner you learn that, they better of you will be.

    i have a belly and moobs (not gynocomastia) as it has been getting a lot better since ive been losing weight

    im very sure i dont need to bulk... ? :S im not saying your wrong but im definately not skinny (im also not OBESE) im just bigger than id like to be... lol

    maybe i have just got the numbers wrong? let me check...

    im completely willing to listen... but why would losing fat be bad for me now? :S i am somewhat in a high bf% at the moment and putting on any muscle i wont be able to see - the only place i can notice my muscles getting bigger are my arms and legs.

    You need to bulk slowly and add lean mass, if you are a beginner, you may even lose some fat on the way, but if you are fat with no muscle, you are going to look pretty skinny and well, horrible, I would start trying to gain mass.

    i worked out my maintenance on Calorie King (cant post a link as low post count)

    but i did select the wrong activity level... as looking again selecting moderate it says my maintenance is 2300 and very low activity level is 1950...

    when i say cutting... my goal is to drop some weight by eating healthy and doing cardio and build muscle... i just want to be able to see the gains while im making them too - so what would you guys recommend i do?

    maybe im just using the wrong words?

    is there anywhere i can look at the kind of foods i should be eating to do a "lean bulk" or any tips/things you guys would recommend?

    ill listen to you as you probaly know much more than me, i just think that i wont see ANY gains for a very very long time trying to build muscle now

    Any foods will work for a bulk, pick ones you enjoy and at 10-20% above your maintenance to minimize fat gains (that is how you lean bulk, it is not a matter of food choices).

    Any food will work for a bulk or cut, its calories that matter, like already said, check the stickies.
