Haha! They're new to me too. Manju are Japanese confections. Most of the ones I chose have a red bean paste filling.
> The chofu ones are "sweet mochi wrapped in a light fluffy pancake".
> The ones with walnuts: "A sweet baked bread covered lightly with an egg glaze surrounding sweet whole red beans (Tsubu-an)".
> The chocolate ones in the back: "A sweet baked bread topped with a delicious Chocolate coating with a smooth white bean paste (Shiro-an) on the inside."
> And the powdery looking ones are actually mochi (Kinako): "Traditional sweet Mochi with sweet smooth red bean paste (Koshi-an) covered with a soy-bean powder."

FYI my San Diego/CA fellow foodies.....
http://bubsdive.com/p-8119-events.html (AYCE and Hot Challenge)
The Waffle Spot in Mission Valley San Diego is working with me to create the first ever "Healthy But Hefty Breakfast Challenge"
1 hour to finish by yourself: ($30 if failed)
1 granola Belgian waffle w/fruit (plate sized)
4 stack buttermilk wheatcakes (plate sized)
3 ham slices (2 oz each)
5 eggs (over easy)
1 bowl oats (1 cup dry weight oats) w/ raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon)
3 slices wheat toast with fruit preserves
1 tall glass skim milk (16 oz)
1 large grilled sliced tomato
2 cups hashbrowns with mushrooms, peppers and onions
Any condiments can be used but are not required. Any beverage can be consumed along with the milk but is not required.
I go in to talk to GM Monday morning. The event is to happen between Friday Nov 22 and Dec 3rd before I go back out to sea again for a couple weeks.UNBA Men's Physique Athlete

REVIEW: Jeni's Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows.
Even though this didn't get rave reviews, I loved it. Then again, I love sweet potatoes in general.
