diuretics....

i've just gotton off prednisone and i realized that i am soooooo bloated! i've gained water weight.( From what i've read prednisone does that..... so i'm hoping that it is water weight)

I need to take a diuretic i guess, i've looked into dandelion root is that a good supplement? are there others i don't want anything that is too potent. and how do i use them?

thanks

try increasing your water intake before you start to use a diuretic. increasing your water intake will cause your body to stop storing water (in most cases) and will help clear you out.

dandelion root also works well, but i am not sure exactly how you would use it. do a search in the supplements forum.

caffeine is another good choice.

Like pogue said, low water intake is often the cause of bloatness.

Make sure you stay properly hydrated, esp. around your workouts and cardio sessions. Shoot for 1-2 gallons per day or more.

I wouldn't start popping dandelion root day-in day-out, as it could mess with your electrolyte balance. You could take 1 caps from time to time though, when you feel like you need it. (Solgar is a good brand)

Do not restrict your mineral intake (sodium etc.) as it is essential for optimal health.

Dandelion root tea is a good way to get rid of water weight. But I wouldn't use it for more than a few days. Make sure you are drinking well over 2 litres a day. 3-4 is optimal

Diuretics

Does anyone know anything about XPel?
I've heard that it was a "good" way of getting rid of that excess water weight in a quick amount of time.
