Should I count macros during football season?

Hey guys football starts next Wednesday I've been bulking and really don't feel like counting macros through the season because I won't be lifting everyday. Should I not count macros? If I dont count macros will I loose any muscle? I usually don't count macros through the season and still get stronger. Note: this is my senior year of playing football

Maybe you should re adjust calories for football activity instead and go from there as it will surely differ from a lifting routine?

Well to be honest I'm going to try not to lift during the season because I believe I will be overtraining because I would be practicing the next day and so on. But I would need to hit my protein and usually when I do I'm in a surplus and I'm at 250 protein right now I would like to slim down a bit because next February I'm going to start a cut

Monitor weight then, adjust calories as you see fit, and hit protein and fat, they are essential.

No **** they are essential but can I just eat what ever I want when I'm hungry like a normal person?

Dude, you've answered your own question. Football's rough, and you're stilll young, you need to just eat! If you eat when hungry (which will be a lot), you'll eat enough. Don't count, it'll be fine. Much better off keeping your mind on the field.

When I was a sophomore I just ate and lifted and did not know a thing about macros and got big as hell why doesn't everyone else do this or is it just a age thing? Thanks for the feedback dude

You're not going to lift during the season? Why not?????? Seriously, you're school should have an "in-season" lifting program as to keep as much muscle as possible. If they don't have a lifting program, you need to bring it up to head coach! Just eating protein isn't going to "keep" your muscle. Just eat, seriously, just eat so your can get calories and keep you weight. You're worried about macros, really?...spend that time watching hudl, learning your plays, watching football on tv, etc.

We have one but I don't believe in lifting in season it's stupid when your just benching squating and dead lifting and doing power pulls....yes I have a hudl of my sophomore and junior highlights already...I know what I'm doing I just wanted to know if counting macros is good during the season? And I don't want to lift during the season because if I was going to workout I would like to workout the way I do now not just some day occasional thing

Played many years of football in my life, and it's a pretty well known fact that if you work out consistently in the off-season, stopping during the season would only serve to make you weaker as it progressed.

You should be getting stronger even if you don't lift...it's part of growing up...I think that's fairly obvious. Don't count macros. Good luck with your season, way to be a team player.

How many years because I have never got weaker. We are tested in the off season many times and at the beginning and end of the season.

OP if you know everything, why ask a question at all?

You seem to be doing just fine on your own.

Keep getting stronger without lifting and eat whatever you want. That's what the pros do.

Exactly, man. You're young and still growing. You're lucky for the fact that you can still make gains while eating whatever you want and not worrying about counting macros. (Assuming you do eat A LOT)

So yes, go with your instinct, and don't worry about macros during the season.

It's hard for me to believe that your football program doesn't include in-season workouts with weights though, kind of odd.

Counting macros is just a tool, use it if you'd like, or don't if you think you can wing it ok on your own. Seems like you're just looking for an excuse to be lazy, but if you make gains anyway maybe it doesn't matter at this stage of your life.

    Sure you can.
    No brain, no gain.
