I usually take it post-workout on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Im wondering if taking some on Wednesday first thing in the morning for extra calories and protein is good idea?

It doesn't matter. just think of whey protein as liquid food, there is no certain time you NEED to take it. Take it whenever you need to fulfill your protein requirement for the day if you didn't meet it with whole food.
