Man I'm still so confused over this Speedmaster diameter issue. It's making me feel a little concerned.
Info:
-Omega's site says the 3551.20 is 42mm
-Took the watch to Omega Beverly Hills. They even opened it, confirmed authentic. Measured 42mm, with crown, and was told that is how they measure for Omega.
-Some for sale say 42mm without crown
-My seller said 40mm in the listing. That is true without crown
I messaged some eBay sellers selling the same watch asking the true measurements. So far it's varying.
One said 42mm without crown, 46mm with (???)
Another said 41.47mm without crown, 42.57mm with crown.
Mine is 42mm with crown, 40mm without. Not measuring with calipers, but the point is it's definitely not 42mm without crown.
What's everyone think about this? Should I be concerned? Again, the watchmaker at Omega did say it was authentic... But I don't understand this difference in sizing.
Pls respond..Internet money works in real life.

brah relax. Most people don't measure them right anyways. The lug length seems to be 40mm or so because the Rolex Sub looks the same to me. But anyways check this out.

Yeah I saw that image. Definitely not the measurements of my Broad Arrow. The 44 is 42, and the 42 is 40. Yet the Pro is advertised as 42..and so is my Broad Arrow. How could one be with crown and one without? I'm not super concerned it's just a little iffy, I dunno. It seems like some people are getting the same measurements as your pic.

My friend is really into China fakes. He has a few already, not the complete bogus fakes but the few hundred dollar "higher quality" ones. His girlfriend is from China and she's about to go visit, and he wants her to pick up a tour billon. I know even the fakes are a good $1000. Probably looking at a lange, iwc, or jlc.
What do you say to someone like this? Don't want him to drop $1000 on junk but he's pretty set. Wants the "technology" of a tourby, not concerned with the case..
He's also saying anything real for $1000 is lame and generic...Internet money works in real life.

Scud, can you drop some knowledge on Rolex servicing? My parents both have Rolexes that stopped running years ago and they haven't wanted to pay to get them serviced, lol. I'd really like to get it done. May or may not be so I can try to hijack the Submariner.Last edited by datniche; 06-03-2014 at 11:36 PM.

Depends bro. If they're vintage pieces, I'd never ever send them to an RSC, bc they'll swap out the hands & dials for new versions. And honestly, even with newer models I'd just look for a good local watchmaker. Rolex charges ridiculous amounts for servicing a basic caliber.

They're from the 90s I believe. That's good advice, as my dad seems convinced the only way is through Rolex directly. Definitely gonna try to get them up and running again, would feelgoodman as that got me into watches in the first place.

Been ages since I came in here, trying to avoid seeing pretty things I can't afford. So much for that, right?
My collection, for some time, has been an ST Dupont RAID, a gift from my employer:
A Momentum beater:
And my Olivier:
Lately, I've been wearing the Dupont for work, and the beater on my time off, and the Olivier just sitting on the shelf. Not because I don't like it, I LOVE it, but it's not a beater. I guess I'm no collector, because I don't really need a third watch laying around, just the Dupont, and one for everything else, so I sold the Momentum, and bought this:
I was thinking if I like it, I'd sell the Olivier. But the lume sucks, and I need good lume, and I like a bolder face. So now I'm considering selling both the Olivier and Orient, and buying a Bangla:
Lol, wtf? If I didn't need extra cash, I'd just keep the Olivier.~ Roast Master, Resident Coffee Warlock~
