READ BEFORE READING ACTUAL ADVICE
Some of you may have seen the earlier thread (visual impact for manlets) by me which got hate from pretty much everyone. However, I had made the thread because I had 5 requests to make it from various people. It still puzzles me why the misc chooses to make such an emotional issue (insecurity, pride, intelligence, personality, stupidity etc. etc.) about height rather than treating it as the visual/technical issue it is. Maybe all Americans are like that about looks in general, making a huge issue out of them. Pretty shallow society.
Pretty much everyone lost the point of the last thread, which was that: scientifically speaking, a smaller person typically has less 'visibility' or 'noticeability' and the basic steps we could do to address that. Aside from that, all persons are equal regardless of height.
I hope this thread will be less emotionally charged,as being a manmore is as such not a very emotionally heaving condition. HOWEVER, I foresee one major proble: I am not a manmore myself. However, I AM trained in design and my vision and skills are not impaired because of my height and I can still help you guys out. I do not harbor any hate towards manmores and do not say that they can never build muscle. However, it DOES take them a little longer to fill out their frames and it doesn't hurt to look more filled out till you gain the required mass. I have also seen a few complaints by manmores saying that they "feel awkward or lanky in a crowd" or that they "stand out too much". I'm not saying every manmore has that problem, but I have had several requests for this thread.
ACTUAL ADVICE BEGINS NOW
As manmores can typically be on the narrow side, we will attempt to create a 'squared off' look to make them appear more natural or 'solid' so to speak.
Shirts
This is the kind of shirt which would be easiest to create the 'square' look with. Note the double breast pockets, which serve as additional squares and add to the 'human tank' image. I strongly suggest rolling them up to elbows to create a symmetric, squared look and also make your arms appear larger (the visual of the rolled sleeve carries forward as more mass)
Like this. Note Jay Z's t shirt layering. This is something which is very easy to do and creates a nice filled out look. DON'T wear the same color tee inside the shirt, but choose a complimentary shade.
Wearing the shirt open like this with the tee inside creates the illusion of more mass and a more symmetric, solid appearance.
As such, manmores do better with tee shirts than with button ups. Choose brighter colors in general. I don't mean neon orange or acid green or something, but pastel colors work great. A good colorful tee with horizontal print does much to make your chest appear wider. Note: This is a very basic tee, but just look for horizontal words printed on a brighter colored tee and you're good.
Jeans
I advise straight fit jeans for manmores or a SLIGHT boot cut if you can carry it well. Choose lighter shades of blue as a rule of thumb and preferably with thick stitching. A pair of Levis straight jeans is pretty good, although you can go for a broader stitching or double stitching version.
Boot cut jeans. I'm sure you've seen bootcuts before so I don't need to post them. NOTE: THE BOOTCUT JEANS ARE WORN WITH BOOTS, NOT WITH LOAFERS.
Watches:
To create the squared off look, my favorite would be the Bell and Ross instrument dial look. Don't worry if you can't afford THIS brand, there are plenty of other brands which offer a similar look for much cheaper.
Please bear in mind that I get PAID by companies to design stuff for them (stuff like shampoo bottles, food jars, tubs for body creams etc) and my gf has a degree in fashion design so I do know a little about what I am saying in this thread. I hope there isn't much hate this time.
Remember. this is NOT a fashion thread. I will give you some design guidelines and elements, you go and find your personal choice of aesthetic/fashionable clothing incorporating these elements. I CANNOT stress this enough, this is NOT a fashion thread.

All you need is big shoulders. See Dwight Howard.
The real winner in any argument is the one who learns from it. Evolve your beliefs. Reevaluate your primitive ideas when a better alternative arises. Admit when you're wrong. Be humble. Rely on logic and reasoning, common sense, not blind faith and stubbornness. Question everything.

I appreciate your effort OP but you have no idea how it is to go shopping for clothes being tall. It is definately possible to look more filled out with the right type of clothes and the right colors but the problem for me is that I barely succeed to buy fitting clothes.
Pretty much all my shirts are atleast XL but many times I have to buy a XXL because XL is not long enough most of the times. But every time you go up the shirt will get significant more width too.
And that is in a manmore country. I think it would be even worse in other country's. I'll pepper my angus when I decide to do an intership abroad.6'6" crew

I suggest loafers as the default shoe for manmores, preferably in lighter shades such as this light blue or stuff like tan suede loafers. The horizontal lines create a squared off look and also gives an overall more 'relaxed' and easygoing appearance to the manmore which may make him easier to approach.
Other than this, for more casual times, the standard sneaker is a good option. It has a rounded off look in the front which we want. I suggest you again stick to lighter colors and also avoid high tops. The classic Nike Sneaker is pretty cheap and good looking.
Manmores do look good in boots, but make sure they have a rounded off front like this pair of Lee Coopers.
The classic Timberlands are also good, and though they add a little height, they are actually more suited to the manmore than to the manlet because they can show he entire boot with their jeans tucked in them.

If you really don't like the look, I am going to suggest alternatives soon. Straight cut is fine.
And to anybody saying that manmores can just work out and eat more, that's true but it's a long process. It doesn't hurt to look a little better while the process is happening. Feel free to ask me questions.Last edited by mirroraddict; 08-05-2013 at 06:46 AM.

Yup I agree that finding the right size is the toughest thing for many manmores.. I had expected Netherlands to be more manmore friendly.
I suggest you TRY getting your shirts made by a skilled tailor. I also suggest oxford shirts for manmores, those are (relatively) easy to alter.
Also, layering tees under the shirt might help your case a little. Aren't there any decent big and tall stores in your city?

There are stores for more "grown men" so I would say guys around 25 and older that are looking for nice (and more expensive) clothes.
A store I went to a few weeks ago named Piet Zoomers they have clothes for taller people and they do fit better. But it's rather expensive but at that time they had 50% discount so it more affordable. At normal stores you just have to be lucky that they fit well.
Not getting my shirts tailored lol I'm just a student.

Some more watch styles. In general, the heavy, bold, thick looking watch will work for you. Most of you will have large wrists (hopefully) so you can carry off larger watches better. Never underestimate the power of a watch and how it can subtly but significantly change your look. Since manmores' wrists are closer to other people's eye levels (not saying they ARE at eye level, just closer) your watches will have much more of a chance to be noticed and create an overall look.
For sunglasses, I suggest a pair with a 'jutting out' appearance and a squarish look. Like the king of manmores, The Rock here wearing square aviators:
This pair on Diddy is also okay, but it will look VERY weird if your face is too skinny so be very careful with them.
The wayfarer is a good 'square' but classic and at the same time, a 'jutting out' style.

I suppose that you will have to spend more for the 'grown up' clothing if you want to not look too reedy..Those shirts are pretty good. It's too bad for you actually, the expensive tailors. i can get a whole suit tailored for $130 in Mumbai.
Maybe you can do a sneaky trick ie wear a t shirt inside and wear an unbuttoned shirt on top of it like a jacket. It won't matter if the shirt is not long enough since the tee is already covering your torso.. And the layering will create some more illusion of filling out. Do you have well fitting tee shirts available?
