Anybody upgraded to these from the standard cups? Are they worth the $106 charge?

If it were me, I'd pay the extra for sandwich style. They give the bar a lot of protection, and I like the design that prevents you from getting stuck under the J-hooks.

I like the idea of them but I don't like how much deeper they are. When bench pressing I would rather have a traditional style cup that I can pull the bar out of instead of pressing it out and pulling my lats out of position and ruining my form.

i've got both j-cups from sorinex and i prefer the sandwich ones. main reason being that the bar doesn't slide around, so you're always squared off. i think the elitefts ones allow the bar to roll forward (not sure if they still do this), which is different than the sorinex version. i thought the lip would be problematic on either version, since it requires some amount of wimping the bar into position, but it hasn't bothered me at all and i'm making consistent gains.

I never really understood the bar protection standpoint. I have the steel "V" of a Parabody - I know it can wreck the knurling of the bar but I am never gripping the bar that far out so it's a non-issue for me.
But I guess if I spent a lot of money on my bars, I would want something else.Boomer Rep Crew #1

couldn't help it
I can't see where that j-hook is so much better it's worth $100 extra, but then again, I only workout with 315 on bench, so maybe I don't lift enough for it to matter.... I lift off of gunracks most of the time, but my gyms had the flat style hooks when I had them at home
oh and......
