    Is 2 hours too long to spend at the gym?

    I spent two hours at the gym today. Did 35 sets total but I take a 2 minute break after every set so I basically rested 70 mins of that two hour in the gym. Between water refill and waiting for a bench that's another 10 minute break. So basically I lifted for a total 30 minutes. Good or bad?

    Depends how heavy you are lifting.


    I've tried lifting with only 15-30 second breaks (and finish session in like 30 minutes). I've tried intermediate and finishing in 45-60 minutes. And I've tried lifting heavy and spending 75-90 minutes in the gym.


    I typically have more gains lifting heavier taking longer breaks. (Natty as fck here bro)

    I get the biggest pump/most gains lifting heavy and resting 3-5 minutes inbetween sets.

    I think that's good since you were resting in between sets if you went full no rest then I would say yes. I also think it depends on the person. I workout for 1.5 hours on weights days and I mostly am lifting with 30 sec breaks while drinking water. Sometimes though I feel it's a bit too much time. I do the ice cream fitness 5x5 workout with at least 2 more accessory lifts included.

    my leg workouts take almost 2 hours, and consist of 8 sets, 1-3 warmup sets per exercise (1 set to absolute failure)

    active stretching and warmup on stairclimber - 15 minutes
    quad workout - 30 minutes (5 min b/w exercises)
    15 minutes streching and resting
    hammy workout - 30 minutes
    10 mins stretching
    calf workout - 10 minutes

    not too long for me considering time active vs rest

    I lift the most weight I can do for 10-12 reps. I landed in that rep range today and even went to 13,14. I really push myself and look pumped today but when I looked at my phone(i use a stopwatch on my phone) to see how long I've been at the gym it was a few minutes over 2 hrs. But factoring in my rest, I only spent 30mins of actual lifting. Just wondering if cortisols were released and ruin my future gains if I keep doing this.

    I have had better results doing all my lifts in under an hour with shorter rests in between. My strain/injury rate was much higher when I would work out for over 1.5 hours. YMMV though

    No it's not too long. Depending on the volume of excercises.

    I spend around that time in the gym.

    Probably like an hour and a half actually.

    i spend 90 min to 2 hours at the gym most of the time. bout 90 sec between sets, and about 3-4 minutes between exercises. just be sure to get in all them cals/carbs before/after
