I'm trying to find a fullbody routine that is made more towards gaining size then strength. I worked out for a round a year but my gym closed a few months ago and I haven't worked out since. I recently purchased a power rack and weights so i'm in search of a new routine.
I've been looking at icf 5x5 and all pros. I'm concerned that if I do all pros the progression will be to easy the first couple months since I assume my strength will come back faster then the 1st time around. With icf 5x5 I havent seen any logs where the person has followed it for a decent amount of time. If you guys had to pick one what would you choose and i'm also open to other fullbody routines. Those were just two that sparked my interest.

Starting Strength, StrongLifts, ICF, All Pro's SBR, the 4 that are usually thrown around. If you're looking for size and strength, any of these 4 programs will deliver. SS is geared heavily towards strength, and AP more towards size, with little emphasis on strength. I'd say SL and ICF are better choices, somewhere in the middle. If you were lifting a few months ago, ICF's volume should be fine for you, as long as you're not a gym virgin. They're all good, but I'd personally go for SL or ICF, more towards SL since I'm in favour of building a good strength base first, but it's not a huge deal. As long as your diet's in check, these 4 programs will deliver, SS may not deliver enough size, AP may not be suitable if you've lifted before for a fair amount of time, SL will provide a great strength base, with some decent size, and ICF will provide similar, and seems to be the 1 you're looking at most.

There's also DC training, The texas method, Madcows 5x5, Bill starrs 5x5, and PRRS. Of these PRRS and the texas method are more geared toward size than strength, however just remember that you do need to keep progressively upping your poundages over time on any program regardless of goals. Cant get big without getting strong.
Focus on getting STRONGER, size is an inevitable bi-product. If you can't squat with proper form you have no business at the rack.
"I'll give you one book to read, starting strength; read that book" -Jim Wendler, during the "Big" seminar.

ICF all the way, One of my favourite programs for size/strength.
As PaulRivers said, ICF and All Pros are the best full body programs for size.
Everybody is different, some people respond better to higher reps and have better results with 4x9 than 5x5, so try both and see what works for you!Last edited by asfetic; 08-03-2013 at 07:41 PM.
