Your dominant side might be pushing harder/earlier than your weaker side. Just concentrate on pushing equally.

Id personally say use dumbbells for a while, than switching to a barbell you should be able to balance the bar.

use dumbbells. that's the easiest fix. even if you have to use significantly lower weight. i had the same problem before i solely started working with dumbbells. i've just recently gotten back to bench pressing.

that or use the smith machine and use a suicide grip

after my shoulder surgery I used the smith machine till I got to 325. once I could crank hard on it then started over on free bar. I had to start at the bottom and work back to get over one plate.
another good way is to use 4 10lbers on each side. do burn downs. do as many reps as you can with 4 then 3 then 2 etc..

Yes but if you're trying to correct your balance issue you need to not BBs for a while and stick with DBs

It depends why he's out of balance. If one side is way stronger than the other side and is taking over the lift, dumbbells can help, but if his technique just sucks, then he should practice with the bar until he learns how to properly press it.

There's a really good point in here: we'd be able to give much better prescription of what to do if we knew the cause of the problem.
