Don't mean to be a pain but Ethanol fuel can be made using the same process as making ethanol (alcohol), the Ethanol fuel needs to be a very high % like 95% or something. So you have to extract almost all of the water out of the alcohol.
You mean cheap vodkas which taste bad - this is because of impurities that are still left after distilling (and also created at fermentation).. it helps to use a copper still (you'll see some bottles say Copper distilled (like the smirnoff black label).. these will taste better).. then you filter the alcohol with carbon.. this is how manufacturers charge their costs... some are like six times filtered etc.. it just removes more impurities.. I've read some manufacturers filter through crystal (no idea how that would help... might just be a selling point).."Meal frequency and nutrient timing is all irrelevant for improving body composition, its all personal preference really." - Josef Rakich

correct (sorta). Brita filter has activated carbon. The activated carbon filter eliminates bad odor and the taste of impurities. It's best to leave the alcohol sitting in carbon for a period of time. Running it through the filter wouldn't remove a lot. The impurities cling to the carbon so it needs to be replaced everyone once in awhile.

The boiling points are: Methanol 64.7C (the stuff that makes you blind* & acetone (nail polish remover)), Ethanol 78.5C (Alcohol), Water 100C. When you distill the first lot of liquid is methanol & other acetone etc (which must be discarded).. then you start collecting the alcohol. My point is that there should be NO methanol in drinking alcohol regardless if it's cheap vodka or not.

Flavoured vodka or anything like liqueurs have a lot of sugar & sweeteners in them, but this shouldn't give you hangovers, you may feel sick from all the added chemicals. Vodka is supposed to give you the least hangover as it's the most pure. I can't think of the word at the moment but when vodka gets distilled they take the "hearts" (the best ethanol) but when they take ethanol for whisky they take some "tails" to give it that flavour.. but these "tails" have more nasties in them. Have you ever heard the saying the lighter the alcohol the less hangover.. so Gin & Vodka will give you the least hangover while darker spirits like whisky & dark rum give you more of a hangover.
Sorry everyone for the rant about alcohol & not actually helping OP (although I did a little)."Meal frequency and nutrient timing is all irrelevant for improving body composition, its all personal preference really." - Josef Rakich
