never really like the OS or the support it gets from certain programs and I use to be against the hardware (not always the best quality and certainly extremely over priced).
But recently they have been making some cool advances, mainly in the new Mac Pro (not the laptop) with what they can fit into that tiny cylinder. Also moving to PCI based ssds in the their laptops.

Would take a Windows laptop over this chit any day of the week. The sooner a non-chitty Haswell laptop with Windows come out, the better.
Will say that the iPhone is better than any other phone on the market though. Tried using a friend's HTC with Android and is sucked near-unlimited amounts of dick.
brb, can't even log out of Android marketplace because you have to link your phone with a single android account

lmao strong falling for marketing strategies.
Get on dat dere marketing time brah, and maybe you'll understand that apple doesn't have high prices because of their quality...
But because people like the OP buy it.
Do not currently use and Apple device, but had an Iphone and will probably go back when the new one is published. Will never buy an Apple computer though, I am too used to the windows OS and it worked out for me pretty fuking well until this point.
Strongly mirin Apple's brand equity though.

Ok, iPad $799, 128gb, has touchscreen , must buy adapter to plug anything into it, weight 1.44lbs, retina display
Surface Pro $999, 128gb, has touchscreen, weight 1.9lbs, wacom tablet, biggest app store in the world (via Desktop mode), USB 3.0 inputs, display port, microSDXC card reader, brb $20 64gb space upgrade, 1920x1080
Macbook air $999, 128gb, weight 2.44 lbs, no wacom tablet, no touchscreen, 1366 x 768, USB 3.0 inputs, thunderbolt port (lol), SDXC card reader (no micro)
everything else arguably the same
Not to mention there are even better offerings from 3rd party vendors..
LOL at anyone not noticing that laptops with touchscreens are the way of the future.

I can understand why people go for the Iphone or Ipod touch, like srs, you need to get on dat game grind while in the chitter.
I don't understand why people go for the Macbooks though... uses the same hardware of PC, but at double the price. Would be special if Apple still made their own CPU and stuff, but it's just the software you're paying for.

Have had and used apple in the past. I prefer Android and Windows. I'm also a professional graphic artist and still prefer Windows.
Never have any problems with my PC. Never had a virus, no registry errors, etc. As long as you know what you are doing, Windows can run flawlessly. As far as cost goes, everyone knows how much more power you can get for your buck if you buy a Windows-based PC (build my own computer master race). The hardware is the same and is the most important part. You are paying for the OS, the brand name, and the aesthetics of the machine with Apple (which aren't always better).
However, Apple IS superior in making a product that everyone can use, that is much harder to screw up. That is a premium that you have to pay out the angus for. I don't hate Apple products, I just prefer Windows. I recommend Apple to my friends all the time based on their knowledge of computers."For monkeys to speak of truth is hubris of the highest degree. Where is it writ large that talking-monkeys should be able to model the cosmos? If a sea urchin or a raccoon were to propose to you that it had a viable truth about the universe, the absurdity of that assertion would be self-evident, but in our case we make an exception."

iPad: 16-128gb, 10 hour+ battery life, mobile ARM processor, 1 GB RAM - $599
Surface RT: 32-64gb, mobile NVIDIA processor, 2GB Ram - $499
Surface Pro: 64-128GB, i5 processor, 4gb ram - $999
MBA: 128-512gb, i5 processor, 4gb ram - $999
I included the prices for models with comparable storage space. What matches up more closely to the Surface Pro, the Air or the iPad?Terribleness is part of greatness.

You picked the base models prices and are comparing to the upper models, I actually picked the ones with the same amount of space with their reflected prices.
However you slice it, you still get tablet functionality and desktop functionality with surface pro. Don't get that unless you buy iPad and MBA, maybe throw some uggs in for good measure

apple computers have great longevity...if you say they dont its because youv never had one...At least the 2007+ mac pros. They are a little over priced but you get a lot protection when it comes to hardware.
The hate mainly comes from the fact we are on the misc...so many sheep on here follow people with reps and say apple sux to get reps. In reality they dont know why they are bad...just that others dont like apple.
I can honestly say apple has the best monitors on the market for picture but they arent worth the price. Also theres no reason in the world to buy a mac laptop unless you use software exclusive to mac, a lot of video and audio editing software.Carb Mal-absorption, no breads, sugary snacks, rice, pasta...live off of 30-40g a day.

The thing that bothers me the most about Apple is their lack of trust and respect for their programmers and customers.
The other day I wanted to turn a simple computer game I made into an app. I have an ipad so I tried apple first. I had to make an account, that's fine. Then I had to 'petition' to become a temporary developer which was another stupid step but pretty quick. Then when I was all ready to download the tools I was brought to a page telling me the ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST plan was $100 for a year membership.
That incredible plan offered me all the following benefits: test and maintain none of the rights for a single personal use app. I couldn't put it on the app store, I couldn't test it on any other device except the one I registered it to, and I had to frequently update them on my plans/intentions along with all code used. Are you fukking kidding me? I pay THEM $100 to even test a single app on one device that can never be distributed or sold, + lose all my rights to the code.
Then I tried Android and without signing up for anything I was instantly pointed to a full developer toolkit free to download. It had everything I needed and even had built in tutorials and extras for app networking help for both mobile and tablets.
Edit - not to mention apple doesn't allow their developers to access anything inside the OS. You are only allowed to use preselected functions on top of their code. Android and Microsoft both allow full control of everything except the copyrighted core.

Let's say I sell you a drill. It costs $100 and it's a decent drill. Now I take this same drill and give it a comfy grip that's contoured and chit. I sell you it for $200. Is the 2nd one better? Yes. Is it worth paying and extra $100 for? No. That is why people hate macs. They're disproportionately expensive. Here is my $600 computer:
i7 2600
8 GB ram
radeon 6850
2 TB HD
+
22'' monitor with built in speakers that I got 6 years ago for ~$150
Let's look at the equivalent mac:
$1700 so far for an inferior processor, graphics card, and HD.
