Is distilled water really better for cutting (no sodium)? And whynot just drink this all year round?

Tap water I think can be more beneficial. Example, here in the UK, the tap water is loaded intentionally with a very small amount of flouride which can help the body if in very low dosages. The halogen flourine is extremely reactive and can prove harmful, butthere is a quota on how much Flouride can be input i think the ratio is, maximum 2.5parts flouride to 1million parts water.

The only thing distilled water is better for is the radiator in your car, or where pure H2O is needed to mixed a chemical formulation. Hard water is far better than distilled water for the body. The harder the water, the worse it tastes, due to high mineral content. Hard spring water is one of the best sources of overlooked, but essential trace minerals. Using distilled as the sole source of drinking water has been noted to cause cataracts in captive bred reptiles, due to lack of minerals.

Filtered water is always better than any kind of tap water. Fluroide is one of the worst things you can put in your body, as are the micro organisms and such that are in standard tap water.
As far as mineral content goes, this depends on the source of your water.
Get a home filter. I promise you will taste the difference.

Filtered or bottled (not distilled) water is the way to go--and they still contain beneficial minerals. Since bodybuilders drink a lot of water, they are exposed to two or three times the quantity of water contaminants that "normal" people are exposed to. Some places have OK water (maybe 10%), but the rest contain chemicals you do not want in your body.
PS: Some bottled water companies have been exposed as selling tap water. Most of those go out of business soon. Stick to the major brands, and you should be OK. Additionally, stay away from the machines that allow you to fill your own bottles. Most of them do not have their filters changed often enough and the water in them is no better than tap water and may be worse if bacteria have built up in the filter.Always learning.

ok, I wanna post this about distilled water since most ppl are talking crap about how it leaches minerals and such. Ive been drinking distilled water for the last 10 years, I have yet to see it leach out my minerals and such. Besides, we get all our minerals in our food, not our water. Most water lines are made of aesbetos in our area(you know, brake dust), Id rather drink clean water than toxic crap that comes from the sink. The mineral content in tap water is so minimal, that you would have to drink over "677"(from a doctor's site) glasses to get your rda for minerals. Heck, I have talked to my doctor and seen a couple doctor's articles online saying that the distilled water myths are nonsense. Pure water is pure water, heck even aquafina is distilled water and deionized. Most of that leaching mineral crap was started by filter companies to make you believe that distilled water is bad for you, when they only just want to take your money away. Again, I have a distiller at home, and I feel much safer drinking distilled water than any kind of water. Now, i will drink something like gatorade powder mixed with distilled after to make sure i replace some sugars and such, but i drink distilled water frequently.

Hey fellas I was woundering how much salt in your water is to much. Everyone on our block got their water tested and everyones water got a lot of salt in it and of course ours got the most. They say normal water got something like 40 I guess thats in parts per million, Idont really know our water got 980 and if you drink 4 or 5 liters a day it seems to be a lot.

distilled
Drinking distilled water will do nothing to you, nothing at all harmful. Pure water without trace minerals will not do a damn thing to the body as "YOU" should be getting all your minerals elsewhere. I would stay away from tap water completely, and if you do have an issue with minerals etc, go get some "real salt" from the organic food store and put the smallest pinch in your drinking water.
Tap water over the period of ones life i believe drastically reduces longevity.

I rememer reading a book when I was a child by the fasting guru Paul Bragg. He advocated drinking only distilled water. He said that the main cause of heart disease was caused by mineral deposits in the arteries as a result of drinking hard water. It made sense at the time. And of course it was supposed to be more pure because you're removing the water from the impurities by distillation as opposed to filtering.
However I remember hearing that distilled water can cause electrolyte balances in the body. So now I really don't know what to think about it.
If I could I would buy one of those ionizers that Evan Centopani uses.......alkaline water FTW.

The biggest culprit mineral is Calcium, its in every single ****ing thing most Americans eat, these barnicles/minerals are, like you said depositing in our arteries and blood etc etc. Modern medicine and big pharma wanna call it something else, but it is what it is. Next time your watching the TV pay attention to how many products being advertised have the "fortified with extra calcium" bull****. and this isn't good calcium, this is calcium carbonate, and calcium citrate, and the gamut of bad calcium that people are ingesting in record quantities. We need foods rich in magnesium and other precious minerals to balance good calcium..
modern medicine will be the end of longevity, its already started

THATS IT! Americans have been poisoned by tap water all these years! Lol. I don't think the water you drink is the biggest concern for long life. I can think of far more important things. I'd go with genetics, cardio, healthy food, environmental poisons (just human pollution and poisons, like say using a wasp killer and wind blowing it back at you), strength training, and then what type of water you drink I guess, in that order. Then again, I don't have a medical degree and I doubt you do too, so who knows?
