    How important is it for girls to work out their chests?? *SRS*

    I'm making a workout program for my GF, she doesn't really like doing chest exercises, and she's got big boobs (no pics you feggits) so in reality its her back she needs to focus on bc her shoulders curve inwards.

    Does she really need to workout her chest if her goal is just to have fun working out and getting "toned" like every girls goals are?

    wow I was about to make this thread (coaching 12 year old sister).


    I figure training is generally the same from a man to a woman and I know spot reduction doesn't happen, but would chest training affect the glandular tissue of the breasts at all?


    all she does for chest is bench press btw. I just make her do compounds.


    also before I get rustlers mad at me cause I'm enslaving my little sister to lift, that is not the case. She saw me lifting and got really into it, I don't care so much if she lifts or not but she wants to. I just coach her so shes safe.

    If she is committed to the program I would say throw in a few exercises for chest. If she is just doing it for fun and isn't too drs then I wouldn't worry

    actually same with my wife. she does:

    A)
    squats
    deads
    OHP
    pulldown

    B)
    squats
    deads
    incline press
    DB row



    she just works out twice a week.


    after that I tell her to do whatever arm and ab stuff she feels like...

    she has same issue with boobs, but put them on a 45-degree incline and they feel much more comfortable...or at least for my wife she did.

    for a chick, really the most simple thing to do is have them run starting strength, it will take them 45 minutes(since they arent going to have many warmup sets), 3 days a week to run, and they will hit everything.

    my girlfriend just started and its really
    squats
    bar 1x5
    65 1x5
    95 3x5

    bench
    65 3x5

    dealifts
    115 3x5

    and then progress from there

    I don't really agree, I think if you were going to drop one of the big 3, it should be bench every time. It's a great exercise, but not as necessary as the other two. If you're not interested in chest development or just simply being a better bencher, then overhead pressing or dips are good alternatives. Arguably more transferable for athletes too.

    Teach her PL style flat bench, the shoulderblade work and general posture will help her with the slumping, and it's not like she'll end up with a massive chest from generally low rep training, while having low test to start with.

    i'd argue incline would be the best if you were only doing ONE press exercise. That being said for a girl to just get 'in shape' they shouldnt neglect any compound movement.

    As above post, starting strength is ideal for girls because they only need to commit 45 minutes 3 days a week and they will see gains

    Incline slipped my mind while posting, good point.

    SS is a good routine for anyone, but I don't still don't agree on the benching. It's a pretty easy exercise to drop if you don't enjoy it, I don't do any benching, and I'd warrant that the pressing strength I gain from other exercises would be enough gain me a respectable bench after learning the technique.

    Benching isn't high on my list of must do exercises for the same reason as low bar squats. You are encouraged to cut depth and decrease range of motion to make lifts, as long as you stay within the basic rules (which for benching, off the top of my head is head, shoulder blades and butt must remain on the bench, did you see that young german powerlifter girl with an extremely flexible spine who only had to move the bar about half as much as other competitors to get an acceptable lift?).

    The thing is, she's got big boobs, so her shoulder cave in and it would make sense to strengthen her back/delt to pull her chest up more. She's not fat, 5'2" - 118, but she wants to lose even more weight (but gain muscle). She knows she'll gain weight is she gains muscle, she hits legs 2x a week, once with me on weekends. Just curious about the chest part
