try it, but not from GNC
GNC costs way too much. I got it at Beyond a Century online. It's much cheaper.
I think it helps me with workouts, to really really get pumped up. Start low on the dosage (and maybe just stay low).
Fair warning, though, the powder smells and tastes bad.
I recommend ALA and l-carnitine with the arganine. take these two after your workout. I take arganine before my workout, with my shake.

Dear Battousai: I'm no expert, so take this for what it's worth. I'm not trying to 'scare you away' from arginine. There is nothing wrong with experimenting with it, after all.
Arginine is exceptionally weak (impotent) as a vasodilator despite the frequent claims to the contrary (advertisements, for instance). This is true even when you INFUSE IT DIRECTLY INTO ONE OF YOUR ARTERIES (please don't). Even when it does manage to open up your blood vessels, it does so only modestly and transiently.
In large quantities, arginine may actually suppress oxygen consumption by your muscles, thereby impairing performance. This is speculative, but certainly no more so than the claims being made for arginine-based 'NO enhancing' dietary supplements.
Now, I'm not saying that just because a supplement doesn't have 'science to back it up' it cannot possibly have merit. Not at all. What I am saying is that when a product is marketed, it the presence or absence of scientific 'support' should be clearly indicated, rather than hidden in exaggerated and/or patently false claims.
Again, if you want to experiment with arginine, then go ahead. Please share your results here. They will be helpful to many, I am sure.
Respectfully,
Rob

oh, the controversy
yes, my increase in pump is directly related to l-arganine, and it varies depending on how much i take. i don't get NO2 or nox, just L-arganine.
I trust the research, but i have singled out arganine as helpful to getting pumped up in the gym. Surely it has other properties other than acting as a vasodilator?
I also understand that it doesn't "work" for most people, but it is difficult to say why.
It is a nice supplement, but it isn't necessary. I find it useful to a good workout. It will be interesting to see more research in the future.

But was wondering which one you used?
I'm trying cheaper alternatives to No2

yes, cheap
i tried it from beyondacentury.com - it was cheap. you may want to get some Yuck Away - arganine tastes bad and smells terrible.
Some people drink a shot of OJ afterwards to chase away the taste.
Good luck. Don't get too much if it just in case you aren't pleased with the results. Who knows - you may not notice any results.
Arganine inhibits the absorption of Lysine, so what I do is supplement with a small amount of lysine later in the evening. Don't take the two together, of course, because they compete for absorption.
At any rate, don't spend too much money, and tell us what the results are.

If you haven't already, take a look at the "NO2 Eposed" thread by iceman.
What I got out of this thread was to drink soda with your arginine pills to lower th ph level in your stomach, allowing the maximum absorbtion of the arginine. I like the pump I got from the actual NO2, and I can feel results from just arginine, but in my opinion, its a lil too difficult to always be drinking a soda just to take 3 pills. On top of NO2 I have tried NOX2 and I had the same results. Therefore I would recomend NOX2, you can buy them online for about $70 for 2, which comes out to $35 a piecefor a 30 supply. The arginine I bought contained 100, 100 mg tablets for about $12, so I would need 2 of these arginine bottles for 30 days $24. You'll save around 11 bucks, but in my opinion it's really not worth the hastle. So once I'm done with this bottle I'm gonna order the NOX2. Find what works best for u and your budget. Good luck bro!
