    Weightlifting Shoe Recommendations?

So I've been lifting for about 2 years now, always used running shoes. I need new shoes to go to the gym because the ones I use now have worn down. Running isn't part of my 4 day workout split (trying to get bigger not slim down), so I figured I should go with shoes designed for lifting. I want a pair of shoes that will help me low-bar squat (have a weak right ankle) and maybe standing military press. I was looking at a pair of Adidas AdiPowers or Adidas Power Perfect 2.0 but heard they aren't good for calf raises or deadlifts (SLDL). From your experience, would these work? If not what would you recommend? I've also heard Chuck Taylors are good for lifting too. Thanks.

Chucks are all around good lifting shoes and will probably be your best bang for your buck. If your looking for oly shoes, I would say the romaleos are great. If you have narrow feet, i'd get any adidas. I got romaleos and they are a little to wide for me, but i like squatting with a heel, it makes hitting depth a little bit easier. You shouldnt be doing calf raises in oly shoes, I'd go barefoot or use regular gym shoes, SLDL can be done in oly shoes, it comes down to what you prefer.

Rogue do-wins or wei-ruis are affordable options.

Yeah, what's nice about Chuck's is that you just do your whole workout in them. A raised heel is nice for squatting, but bad for other exercises, and who wants to change shoes?

A decent article on lifting shoes: http://stronglifts.com/weight-liftin...ats-deadlifts/

Chuck Taylors or similar will probably be the best bang for the buck.

I'm one of the few people around here that will tell you to avoid chucks for lifting shoes; their design isn't ideal for what you want in a lifting shoe. I won't go into the details here but suffice it to say I know my shoes and my podiatry. You can do some research on the different types of lifting shoes available over at http://wlshoes.com - sounds like you want more of a power lifting style shoe. I would recommend indoor soccer shoes, adidas sambas or perhaps a hybrid like the Reebok Oly Lifter.
