Can i sell a gun at a pawn shop??

Short version of the story -
Old roommate of mine developed a really bad addiction to oxy's and started to act more and more paranoid.
Refused to get help, started stealing things, bought a gun because "people were after him".
Got tired of him stealing things, not paying bills, and just being a **** roommate in general so asked him to start looking for somewhere else to live.
He skipped out on several months rent that i had to cover for him the previous months and had some other bills he wasnt caught up on either.
Havent heard from him since (several months) but i am tight on cash after having to unexpected spend a few thousands dollars fixing my car.

*He left some things here including a 9mm - Wondering if it is legal for me to sell this to either a pawn shop or gun store.... or are they going to ask me for registration/where i got it/potentially call the police??

    Any advice appreciated!

I wouldn't advise you to sell another person's gun at a pawn shop. Even if you try to sell it face-to-face (FTF) you run the chance of serious criminal charges/legal issues. Hang on to it. Worse-case scenario, you have a way to defend yourself at home.
