I just competed with a friend doing straight bar pull-ups ...turns out that he hit 20 reps where I only hit 16......he's about 160lbs and I'm 182lbs...I got a bit more mass than he does so I dont' get how ta **** he can do so much when I strugle barely make it to 17 reps?

yep, mass plays a big part. it's easier to pull up 100pds. than it is 200pds.
i would try to level it out for fun. e.g., if i were to compete against him (and i weigh 225 btw), i would strap on a 45pd. plate making me pulling up 270. since he's 160, he can strap on a 110pds. to even it up. Now I can only do 4reps@45, but i guarantee he won't be able to do 1@110
try something like that, such that his mass doesn't play that much of a rollBooo

You might try maxing out on pull-downs...but that would just be weird.I'm back. For good.

Also remember, your cardiovascular conditioning plays a big role in doing these.
I wouldn't say your bro's stronger, he can just rep more pullups than you. Fuk what your friend can do, concentrate on yourself, don't start comparing yourself to anyone. Nothing good will ever come of that. At least untill you plan on stepping on a platform

I feel no. of pull-ups can show aman's general fitness, despite that it is not as good a measure of strength.
There are no good and bad; no right and wrong. There were effective actions and ineffective actions, socially acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, wise and stupid decisions to be made. But if you wanted to achieve maximum sefl-realisation, you had to understand that any choice you made was entirely value neutral. Morality was a primitive concept, useful in earlier stages of societal evolution, perhaps, but without relevance in the modern age.

it's possible that pullups are a fairly specific form of exercise; therefore if he secretly practices them a lot more than you do he may be able to do more reps than you can.
if a man bets you money that he can beat you at ping-pong while he uses a coke bottle as a paddle, chances are he's practicing with a coke bottle 4 hours a day
