So for over a year now i have stopped eating red meat. i have plateaued in my weight and size and one of the trainers at my gym suggested i eat red meat if i want to gain that little extra weight and size. i've read conflicted statements saying it is good or bad. What is your thoughts on red meat. There was no real reason why i stopped.

Just think about tribes in africa and borneo and places like that. They have no societal pressure or media telling them what to do. They just do things to survive.
They will go to great lengths and put themselves in all sorts or peril just to get meat. keep in mind these are people who live in a jungle and there are plants everywhere that they could just walk over and eat.
So you have to ask yourself, why would they do something so dangerous unless there was a great benefit to eating it?
They do do stuff just to waste time, they do things to survive and to feed and protect their families.
I personally eat it twice per day plus chicken and pork to lose weight. I also eat it to improve performance and when I am gaining weight."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Red meat is the most anabolic substance you can buy on the open market. With it's ideal amino acid profile, it's an excellent source of protein, and contains a good deal of the other essential macro---fat. Micronutrients are also present in abundance.
Anyone interested in good health, not even to mention building mass/strength, should be including red meat in their nutrition plan.No brain, no gain.
"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

Red meat has high content if creatine in it.
Contrary to popular belief, I dont actually bench 900lbs, as stated in my username.
Supplement Stack:
-Orange Triad
-CreaCore
-MusclePharm Fish Oil
-Caffeine Tablets
Nutritional ketosis requires explicit reduction of CHO intake to generally lower than 50 g/d and, for some, <30 g/d. Protein must also be restricted, often to <1.8 g/d per kg body mass and sometimes to < 1.2 g/d per kg, with remaining calories composed from fat.

Those are all great supps, just make sure your diet is in check. I wouldn't eat red meat all the time though. Eat it on weekends for example, because I once read an article and a study by some organization stated that red meat lowers morality by 20%. Meaning your lowering your chances of living a longer life. Not sure if it was a true study.Contrary to popular belief, I dont actually bench 900lbs, as stated in my username.

It was probably the study on highly processed meat where they found eating salami ten times a day wasn't healthy , and the media reported that as being true for all meat.
Edit .. Wizard! I knew it was that little slice of retardedness. Good to see the bbc being quoted too ( official uk government propaganda , uk government wants to reduce meat consumption)
Op, watch fat head , its a documentary that might help you

That's just a link to a newspaper report. But there was a link to the actual study.
If you read down into the "results" section, you will find this gem- "Men and women with higher intake of red meat were less likely to be physically active and were more likely to be current smokers, to drink alcohol, and to have a higher body mass index (Table 1). In addition, a higher red meat intake was associated with a higher intake of total energy but lower intakes of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables..."Just show up. Move some iron. Put in the time. Eat enough food.

I think red meat is tasty and delicious and it's a great source of protein and happiness.
But all that being said, the plateau in your weight is not a function of red meat intake. You could increase calorie/nutrient intake without the presence of red meat and accomplish your goal of gaining additional weight.Training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=160275721&pagenumber=

Although I am not over 35, I wanted to add to the discussion about red meat and it's "unhealthy" stigma according to previously mentioned study. Lets not forget that McDonalds burgers count as red meat...eating a nice healthy steak with veg and potatoes is also red meat. So that study is no doubt very flawed and probably doesn't show the full picture.
