Current split:
Mon- Triceps/Biceps
Tues- Shoulders/ Traps
Wed- Legs/ calves
Thurs- Chest/ Triceps
Fri- Back/ Traps
Sat- Rest
Sun- Rest
Exercises are obviously varied, but ive been using this split for over 8 months now.
I am still motivated with it, and gains are there to be made
Is there any hard evidence that a split needs to be changed other than if progress or motivation plateaus?

Dont fix what isn't broken!!
If your still seeing improvements and still have the motivation to go and do it then I dont see why you need to change. Like you say, providing you are incorporating progressive overload in to the program as whole then its doing its job as it should.
If you do feel like you are beginning to slow then you can still kick start things off again by including a few intensity techniques like drop sets, rest pause sets, super setting, negative sets ect ect.
Another trick is simply reversing the order of the exercises in each workout, doing that can make it feel like a completely different workout and your busy will think so too!
