hopsin and tech have a large following, but I wouldn't say they have blown up in the sense Em, or 50 etc...did. not house hold names, not played on radio (at least not often. I live in the KC area and the local hip hop station RARLEY plays tech songs.) techs been around for a while, and I don't ever see him blowing up in the mainstream.
not to be an Em dik rider, but idk if there has ever been such a skilled rapper that reached the level of fame he did.

Lol @ J Cole and Wale. I don't listen to Kendrick much, but I feel as if he has done enough to say he's blown up. I agree with what someone said that he was kind of one dimensional in his last album. He has the skills, he just has to learn how to use it.
Edit: Actually nvm just listened to some of his newerr tunes, nah lol dude is alright

J. Cole is probably the most recent good rapper to go big. I don't think he's on the same level as a lot of the old greats but he's the best we have right now. Like others said Joey badass and Chance the Rapper are hopefully gonna be doing good stuff well into the future.
I would put Earl in but I think he's gonna play out the same territory that he and Tyler have always done. Wolf was boring and the odd future crew has used up a lot of their novelty.*Always Pick 4 Crew*
*Stynieke is a ******* Crew*
*Walk Close Behind A Group Of People And Pretend I'm In The Group Crew*
*Get nervous whenever someone reads my crew crew*

I'm assuming you're generalizing rap based on songs you heard on the radio.
Where as I have a right to generalize trance, because it's all the same chit lol.
On topic: Entire Black Hippy crew (Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab Soul, and don't sleep on Jay Rock)
Joey Bada$$ mad potential at only 18. Inspires me to pursue career as well being same age.
Big K.R.I.T.
Chance the Rapper (He's one of those people that isn't the greatest lyrically, but his fukcing energy in his songs puts you in the fukcing zone. Especially when he does his ad libs lol)
EDIT: My list was more about people ON the come up that will be great, Black Hippy has pretty much already made it.

I honestly don't get what people see in J Cole. Sure he's a decent producer but his rapping is so damn boring. IMO Nas should have passed the crown to Kendrick. Kendrick's lyrical abilities soar far beyond J Cole's reach tbh. I just don't think he's good. He's like a low quality Drake. Singing about bishes and soft corny chit like that.
Tbh I think the best last rapper to blow up has to be Earl Sweatshirt easily, Tyler, The Creator, or Kendrick Lamar. I'll gladly explain to you guys why I think this if needed."What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms." - Thomas Jefferson
