To the guy that negged me: I only compete in untested Feds so I guess I don't understand how I'm cheating.

Higher intensity, lower volume on the main compound movements. Accessory work focusing on weak points. If you want to gain strength you have to use max effort and move heavy weight, that's really all there is to it. Doing 5 sets of 12 reps isn't doing **** for your top end strength. The typical target is 2 to 3 sets using 90% of your 1 RM.

Do people that don't lift believe you when you tell them how much you bench or squat?
and then you show them proof with vids and they're shocked

repped! lol thought you were gonna post this:
I powerlift often (not on a regular, but I make sure to do it twice a week at most) and it gave me traps of peace and I've been able to build muscle faster than following a normal bbing routine.**Wetbreasts will make it still**

Sorry if I'm wrong on this, but isn't a 5x5 program for a beginner still a solid idea for a beginner, you've been training for 7 years. Wouldn't the idea of using 90% of your 1 RM be a little rough for someone starting out?
For that bolded part, how many reps?
Great physique too mang, repped.

If you are completely new to training then yes I'd probably have you on a slightly lower intensity program for the first few months.
Reps can be anywhere form 1 - 5. The key is variance. I lift heavy every week but that does't mean I go in and do a 1 rep max every workout.Best raw lifts: 670/480/675 | http://www.youtube.com/user/invain622002 | IG: NsattPL

LOL at some guys in here.
It depends on the lifter....some do not give a chit about aesthetics because they know more food will make them lift more in addition to other stuff.
Some just have high metabolism.
Some just decide to stay in certain weight class........

5/3/1 isn't bad for a beginner template, if I HAD to suggest 1 program to somebody really new to lifting, that's probably what it would be. I haven't really looked into any of Coan's programs but it's pretty obvious he knew what he was doing, lol. My best suggestion is to go read some pro level lifters journals. Westside is very popular, but in the end everybody trains slightly differently.
