Unhappy Could I get a full ride scholarship to a mid-level university with these stats?

My grade point average and ACT score are obviously my strongest two points. SAT was meh, and my extracurriculars are severely lacking. What do you think misc? Could I get a full ride to a mid-level university (i.e. Colorado, Arizona, Oregon)? Or a decent scholarship to an upper-level university (i.e. UCLA, North Carolina, Michigan)?

    GPA:
    Weighted: 4.500
    Unweighted: 3.912

    SAT:
    Critical Reading: 700
    Mathematics: 800
    Writing: 710
    Composite: 2210

    ACT:
    English: 34
    Mathematics: 35
    Reading: 36
    Science: 36
    Composite: 35

    Extracurriculars:
    -3 years of track
    -1 year of basketball
-working at grocery store this summer
-senior leadership group to assist incoming freshmen
    -10-20 volunteer hours

    Me:
    -white
    -upper-middle class
    -attend prestigious high school
    -live in Colorado
-school does not report class rank

Also there are thousands of miscers on here who had more impressive stats out of high school. These honestly aren't that good even compared to many kids at my high school.

GPA as a number by itself doesn't matter, class rank is more important, and the relative difficulty of your school (judged by past alumni who went to the school you are applying to + how your school does on standardized tests). You said high school is prestigious so that *should* help but not every prestigious school is created equal.

Lol @ those schools being "upper level" the only UC that is "Upper Level" is UC Berkeley unless you're going for specific programs within the other UCs that dominate. UCLA is upper level with some grad school programs however. And I think only Michigan is "upper level" out of all those you listed. Upper level colleges are like Emory and colleges that rank >top 10 but <top50.

The extracurriculars won't put you that far above the rest of the crowd given they're pretty run-of-the-mill (no hate), in fact that's probably about standard for whos applying to mid-tier schools in the first place.

All that being said, I don't think you'd get a full-ride but you are definitely scholarship material.

Why aren't you hustling multiple scholarships? You realize most of the school-scholarships are NEED BASED now and their funds are drying up. Upper-middle class are almost the MOST FÜCKED social class when it comes to scholarships because they'll claim(untrue) "You don't need this money, Aboo ShishKabob who lived in a clay house does"

You did well on the SAT........Did you get National Merit (PSAT) scholarship?

My high school doesn't report class rankings unfortunately.

And on the PSAT only got like a 210. Also, are you familiar with how that selection process works? Even with a terrific score (220+) your chances of getting it are super slim.

Honestly man take my advice, you should be (or should have been) hustling multiple, SMALLER scholarships. Most public college funds are drying up faster than the vagina of a 18 year old girl near a betamale, they WILL factor in "Need."

I applied for scholarship but literally got $0. Fortunately I used some outside scholarship money to help a little, but the Fed / my college really ****ED me here.

    2) With grades like that you should be able to lock down some pretty solid scholarships at state schools but if you're at one of the boulder public schools you're not at that prestigious a school.

You can slightly fraud on your extracurriculars and get away with it. They don't double check your extracurriculars so they are forced to believe what you tell them. That being said don't go out and say you cured cancer but you can embellish a bit on your application and get away with it.

I don't know about the scholarships though. Your stats are good but I was under the impression most scholarships/financial aid offered by major universities is typically offered to those who come from a socioeconomic disadvantage.

2290 SAT, top 15% of class rank (GPA wasnt on the normal 4.0 scale). National Merit (PSAT) scholarship winner, I think I took 7-8 APs. Also took something like 4-5 SAT-II exams, listed the ones I did well on. For all intents & purposes our SAT scores would be considered about the same.

a lot of these posters have no idea what they're talking about. public universities, especially state universities, will give you ridiculous scholarships - I was offered $6000/year out of state for OSU just because I got a 26 on the ACT.

With your gpa, SAT/ACT scores, extracurriculars, and a really good essay, you will have a lot of your tuition paid for. You aren't mid level material, you should be shooting for ivy leagues

even if you don't get a full ride, if you're this smart you obviously won't **** around in college, so taking out student loans is not that big of a deal provided you choose a worthy major like engineering or finance

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that none of the Ivy League universities--which have pretty large endowments--offer any form of merit-based financial aid.

They do....to the broke kids. The Fed takes care of the "need" based, as do Donors of the school (they'll have to write plenty of Thank You letters trust me lol), but the school will still offer some $$ on merit. OP's dad is balling too hard. He should apply for those merit-based scholarships, but like I said before, apply to outside scholarships as well. Worst comes to worst, he has TOO MUCH scholarship money and they just give that cash to someone else.

:EDIT: Also OP, some schools will PAY YOU TO GO THERE. Granted, they are mid-tier at best. Your stats are good enough to be in this Select group. SRS, getting a full ride PLUS $10,000? Dayummm son.

Full ride to Cambridge checking in. Your scores seem quite good. If I were you I would manipulate some sort of 'leadership' examples and get someone or something to back it up.

Also like someone mentioned your cover letters an references need to be exceptional. Often as well it's difficult to come across as bright, talented and confident without coming across as a cocky urine stain.

    Good luck OP

    UCLA brah checking in

You would probably not get any kind of money at UCLA unless your parents have a low income.

Had decently better stats coming out of high school and still only received half tuition on a very specific merit scholarship (Read 5 kids get it per year)

    Here is the upside:

Apply to EVERY merit based scholarship. QUIT YOUR JOB. Are you only worth only 10 bucks an hour? Probably not. Use your stats to leverage your way into local and national merit based scholarships.

I spent 4 hours a day for 6 months during my senior year applying for every single scholarship I could find. Cheerios $10,000? Applied. Khols $50 dollar gift card? Applied.
I probably wrote 100 essays by the end of the scholarship grind.

You wont do this, and you will work at that grocery store and make pennies, but if you did you could easily have your college covered.

Good luck OP. I hope you look for scholarships.

Hmmm... I'm still pretty sure that none of the Ivy League universities offer merit-based aid anymore.
The Wall Street Journal says that "need-based aid" is "the only kind offered by Ivy League colleges": http://online.wsj.com/article/SB114549432060630668.html
