Thread: why even cut?

    why even cut?

    so i'm sitting in front of this delicious bowl of rocky road ice cream, my favorite.. and thinking, why do we need to cut? why can't we just build muscles and let the muscles burn the fat? it's easier for me to hit the gym rather than push this bowl of ice cream away.

    answers please.. the ice cream is melting..

    Muscle doesn't burn fat. More muscle increases your metabolic rate which is a powerful tool in the fight against fat but will not "burn" fat all on its own. A calorie deficit (aka: NOT eat your ice cream lol) will burn fat.

    Every take a look at a heavy weight power lifter? They do exactly what your suggesting. This is what you will look like without a cut, if that is your goal than go for it.

    no, i definitely don't want to look like those guys. but i think those guys eat waaaaay over their maintenance. i'm thinking to eat just 10% over maintenance and lift heavy. eat just enough surplus to grow muscles, but not add on fat. is that possible?

    Yes. It is. I mean you'll add some fat. But it won't be much as long as your surplus isn't too high.
    And screw it. I eat ice cream while on a cut. *Shrug*
