he's had health problems. most notably type II diabetes. he's had it for a while before he was diagnosed.

i agree with Jay. even if he does pull off a win, i think he'd retire and end on a high.

I remember an interview of Dennis Wolf in which he said that he only wants to compete some more years. I think it will depent a lot on his placing in the next Mr Olympia if he decides to continue or not. I doubt he'll be happy with an 8. or 9. place.

Wolf has the means to retire and not have to worry so I would expect that he may retire earlier than other pros, especially when he accepts he'll never be able to reach the highest levels.

I think Wolf knows he won't be Mr. Olympia, for a while he's been saying his goal is top 3

Honestly, if he has a poor performance at the Olympia, I say Jay Cutler.

Don't remember his exact words but Dex said he will keep competing for a good amount of time. He will not retire soon.

I think Jay will retire unless he wins, if he wins the O, then he may have the motivation to try and tie Dorian...But two more O's for Jay tops imho, so I see him bowing out next.

Dex too, has to be soon...although he seems timeless, as he is still going strong.

I have seen pictures of many guys competing in Masters classes in NPC shows, and even many of the guys in their 50's look pretty darn good. The question though for an IFBB Pro is if they are competing because they actually think they still have a shot of winning some shows, or if they are competing because they don't have a retirement plan, and would be lost if they were no longer competing and involved in the bodybuilding world.

Freeman seems to be getting more and more bitter about his placings and the sport in general so I can see him retiring...

Dexter if he doesn't crack top 6, which could happen Jay, Phil, Kai, Evan, Cedric, Ramy... Pretty stacked line up this year if people don't back out, and gonna be tough for a small guy to compete this year...

having one of his best years in recent memory and he's making great money winning shows and all he has to do all day is train and eat and sleep and make 6 figures yearly

There is no retiring for Jay for sure.
Don't think guy will just let it like that, he looks like he wants moar!
Eventho there are Phil and Kai (big fan of both) on stage and don't really think Jay stands a chance to actually be a winner next to 2 of them, but Jay won't quit. I am sure of that.

All of them love attention and fame, A LOT. Jay is too narcissistic to retire at just 40, Dex is way too good currently to hang it up soon.. Freeman is too much in love with bb'ing and the "lifestyle", it's not about winning for him as much as about participating, said it many times, even tho' he's bitter about his placings. The one who'll retire will be the one who'll get health problems. Rockel is already in that boat... and it's not like he's a big threat anyway. But there's a chance that WOlf will retire just because he can't seem to make an impact no matter what and his suggar mommy will cut these fundings sooner or later lol.. he'll have to resort to "maintenance" doses and plowing the hell out of her to be able to continue to live an unemployed and lavish life.
