Yeah I'm curious as to what caused that...(it was the non genetic diabetes right?)
Seriously though, I think he burned himself out these past couple of years. Seemed to hit his stride in late 2009 to 2010 when he got 7th at the 2009 Mr. O and 6th at the 2010 Mr. O. Competed way too much after that. I know people always place alot of emphasis on drugs and stuff, but I'm sure his constant competing definitely did not help and probably exacerbated the problem.
People always complain how bodybuilders don't compete as often as they used to. Well I say, when they compete year round, they don't make improvements, usually fade by Olympia time, burn out, and sometimes end up with health problems. I'd rather see a bodybuilder compete once a year or a couple times in a month period and wait in anticipation the rest of the year.Frustrated at bodybuilding? Read my rant:

type 2 which is usually related to poor diet. Pro BB gets it and I think we just assume huge SLIN usage/abuse caused it. It is reversible though... He can use dietary and supplement measures to improve his insulin resistance. Not sure maintaining Pro level size and improving insulin resistance go hand and hand though...
It is universally well known, that in digesting our common food, there is created or produced in the bowels of human creatures, a great quantity of wind. That the permitting this air to escape and mix with the atmosphere, is usually offensive to the company, from the fetid smell that accompanies it. That all well-bred people therefore, to avoid giving such offence, forcibly restrain the efforts of nature to discharge that wind.
