In 2 days it will mark two years in the gym. Countless hours of lifting to the best of my ability, 4-6 days a week consistently, all the sacrifices, the commitment, hitting macros. It's what I love doing.
When I first started back in July 2011, I had just recovered from anorexia. Had the disorder from the end of 2007 until around 2010. When my parents threatened to take me to hospital if I didn't eat what they had served me, I fought through it and slowly began to eat more. At that point I weighed 33kg at 15 years of age. When I joined the gym, I must have weighed 46kg. I was still very skinny. I had had enough of being that "small, skinny, quiet" person at school up until year 11. I had a lot of motivation to get some size and a good muscular physique. I am known to get obsessed with things very very easily. Something I like or enjoy or want to be good at I will do everything I can to be good at it.
I didn't think gym would take over my life.
The journey began. I had zero knowledge of the gym on the first day. I walked around swapping from machine to machine, using light weights and trying to use good form. I was what you'd call a "skinny, non lifting *******". Took a while for me to understand what the bigger guys were even doing with the dumbbells in the free weights area. A friend of mine from primary school introduced me to the flat DB press. And that's the point where I started getting education. Countless hours on the internet researching, getting knowledge on how to actually make some gains.
Here's a photo of me when I was 13. Probably sitting at 32kg.
Here's a photo of me 2 months into my lifting.
And here I am now. 2 years later, I have stacked on at least 25kg of muscle. My strength has multiplied by a very large number. I have 100x more confidence, can speak to girls, not socially awkward and I feel better about myself.
These pictures are current. Probably weighing between 76-77kg here at roughly 12% BF. At the end of my last cut I weighed 70kg at around 6.5% BF.
I had also competed in my first powerlifting competition last week. I hit a 480kg total at 73.1kg bodyweight. This included a 3xBW (220kg) deadlift.
Thank you brahs. Will rep posters in thread randomly.
