My current total is about 1020lbs at 6' 183lbs. I was up to almost 1050 at 198 but cut some weight for summer. I'm starting to turn my diet around and shooting for a 1100 lb total.
I'm looking at 5/3/1 BBB which would get me to 1130 lb in 8-9 cycles over the next year. Is it realistic to think this will happen without stalling if my diet supports my goal?
Could I do it faster with something else like madcows or smolov? Not too keen on the time in the gym that comes with smolov but once winter hits ill have the time.
Current lifts are 330 squat, 265 bench, 425 deadlift. Not competing yet but I'd like to do a meet sometime in the future

Does it matter if it's realistic or not? If some random person on the Internet tells you it is not realistic, are you just going to give up lifting and quit before even trying?
It's possible you could do it faster but nobody know for sure. The best way to get there is to lift heavy consistently and eat food consistently. Hard work pays off.1372 @ 205

So... Yes to 5/3/1 three days per week? BBB? Different assistance template recommendations?
I appreciate the kind words but I'm looking for a program to follow. It's becoming harder to progress and I'm looking for validation on the program I've chosen or alternative recommendations.
I don't like self regulation, I like numbers to follow so I don't constantly doubt my choices and switch things.

It actually is. You think your gym weights and bars are calibrated to the same accuracy as competition plates? In addition, the standards that the lifts are held to in gyms are not always equivalent to competition. Throw in having to make weight for a competition, having to do all 3 lifts in 1 day, having only 3 attempts, having to lift when they say the bar is ready for you not when you are ready for the weight, and alot of other variables that come into play. This is why a lot of people will not do well their first meet because they think they can hit their gym numbers or higher in competition. Some of them even bomb out because of this which discourages them from ever competing again.

Thanks. Except that peaking three lifts for a specific day against competition with a ton of other variables (like arian already mentioned) is nothing like hitting three lifts on any given day per lift and then adding them up. You're more than welcome to think it's the same, but then you'd be wrong.
Also a powerlifting total requires that it be done in competition. Otherwise you are just adding up random gym lifts that could have been hit months apart. You're more than welcome to do that, but don't call it a total otherwise you're giving the impression that it was done under meet standards. There is no such thing as 'strong enough'
