EDIT - Just seen this news is from the weekend, so may have been posted already. My bad!
This really surprises me! I would have thought his Olympia only approach would be all he did up until he retired now. Can't see this helping his Olympia ambitions though
I'm delighted though, as it's good to see some big names in the line up after the poor show this year!

It could be something movie related. Marvel Studios has been very successful as of late. Images of his physique combined with sophisticated CGI could be used to lend some authenticity to any larger than life character. For instance, in Watchmen, Greg Plitt was reportedly used as the model for Doctor Manhattan.

I'm with you on that. Purely from a financial standpoint, the payout is just too good to pass up; especially at the ASC in Ohio. In 2008, Dexter Jackson made a very strong case for that argument as the highest earner in prize money; winning the Olympia put him over the top. My only guess is, some people feel obligated to peak for the Olympia because of the fanfare, recognition, and widespread coverage. But, after a while, the prestige has got to wear thin when you know the odds are against you, and the reigning champion is just too dominant.
Phil isn't the biggest, but he combines the best qualities into an almost flawless package. Depending on what Kai looks like this year, based on the outcome, then we'll finally know if winning is out of the question. If that's the case, then he might be better off trying to become the undisputed ASC consecutive title holder. That, combined with a string of runner up placings at the Olympia should provide a very nice nest egg for retirement.Lifetime natural bodybuilder, and certified nutritionist.
