Wow, Kai Greene commits to AC2014

EDIT - Just seen this news is from the weekend, so may have been posted already. My bad!

This really surprises me! I would have thought his Olympia only approach would be all he did up until he retired now. Can't see this helping his Olympia ambitions though

I'm delighted though, as it's good to see some big names in the line up after the poor show this year!

Strange, as the Mr Olympia usually doesn't do other shows

That surprises me as well, but he did say incredibly tight this off-season.

Maybe he saw some Ced competition photos and said "I can do that in full off-season" and decided to compete.

Is there a link to the page or anything else more conclusive? The banner could just be indicating that he's going to be there and doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be competing. I wouldn't put it past them for pulling a sneaky like that.

It could be something movie related. Marvel Studios has been very successful as of late. Images of his physique combined with sophisticated CGI could be used to lend some authenticity to any larger than life character. For instance, in Watchmen, Greg Plitt was reportedly used as the model for Doctor Manhattan.

I dont understand why a "top guy" who will probably never get the olympia title, and im not just talking about kai, but other names like wolf or someone doesnt just keep doing the arnold and become the most winninest competitor ever at that competition, plus the payout is insane

This. He's a very talented artist. I'd buy his comics/graphic novels no doubt.

lol it's just the AC E 13, not the AC 14. Who cares, ofc he's going to do it. Free $$$. He basically has the Olympia, then next week Sheru, then hold for another week and smash AC E. Standard. Would be retarded not to.

I'm with you on that. Purely from a financial standpoint, the payout is just too good to pass up; especially at the ASC in Ohio. In 2008, Dexter Jackson made a very strong case for that argument as the highest earner in prize money; winning the Olympia put him over the top. My only guess is, some people feel obligated to peak for the Olympia because of the fanfare, recognition, and widespread coverage. But, after a while, the prestige has got to wear thin when you know the odds are against you, and the reigning champion is just too dominant.

Phil isn't the biggest, but he combines the best qualities into an almost flawless package. Depending on what Kai looks like this year, based on the outcome, then we'll finally know if winning is out of the question. If that's the case, then he might be better off trying to become the undisputed ASC consecutive title holder. That, combined with a string of runner up placings at the Olympia should provide a very nice nest egg for retirement.

Dex winning the Masters O twice is no chump change either.

As for Kai doing the AC.... well, a lot of top guys that entered before hand just said...

We need to see Kai and Phil playing Carnage and Venom.

It's like 2-3 weeks after the Olympia and if there's a Sheru 2013, might as well win them all, including the Olympia.
