All of this year:
Ate whatever keeping cals at 3k getting at least 30g fiber and 250 protein. Felt ok, gained a little strength, maintained ~12% bf WHILE doing HIIT 3x week.
For the past month:
Ate 3k of foods "close to the earth" meaning no processing meeting same macros. not even bread. Feel amazing. Sex drive through the roof. STOPPED DOING HIIT. Fat is melting away very fast, obliques more defined everyday. After i eat a meal, I poop that same meal out in like 8 hours. Strength gains this past month surpass those of the previous 5.
My conclusion:
Our bodies are very complex machines. We are not made to digest flour, refined sugar, vegetable oils or large amounts of dairy. When we do, processed foods "clog" our liver (our filter), slowing our metabolism.
My disclaimer:
Can you loose fat, maintain leaness using IIFYM? Yes. Is IYFYM superior or equal to eating "clean" FUUUUUUARK no.

I've actually seen a couple of studies confirming your thoughts. The studies were something along the lines of people were given a meal plan to follow. In one group, they would eat about 2000 calories of high carb foods everyday, while the second group would eat 2000calories of foods that were low in carbs. The second group lost a significant amount of weight compared to the carb group, who lost very little weight. I'm not sure where I found those studies though. I think it was in either reddit.com/r/keto or reddit.com/r/ketogains

OP what foods are "close to the earth"? Srs. And where do you get your fat from if not vegetable oil (which I take you mean oils like olive).

You should check out the documentary called "the perfect human diet," pretty interesting and a lot of it is focused on how grains and processed foods affect our bodies.
My only problem with following this kind of diet is that pasta is a huge part of how I grew up and I find it hard not to eat it.. still trying tho. Beer is another one*** Misc Cigar Crew ***

Instead of pop tarts and subway, eat potatoes, rice, oatmeal. Get fats from animal fats or nuts like steak, eggs or almonds. Some believe peanuts are a no go, so do I. I just blow up, retain crazy amounts of water and feel like overall garbage when I eat peanuts. The therory is that peanuts have only been a part of the human diet for a short while, hence the allergies and intolerance.

yeah i have to ask your diet and meal plan set up if you have the time.
Whenever I am going to eat clean and close to the earth. I practically become vegetarian except eating a lot of ground beef and steak and chicken. Lots of nuts, lots of kiwi, apples and carrots. I can't process lettuce for some reason, i eat lettuce i poop out whole lettuce, like it does not get digested.
but that for 1 person for 1 week at 3k cals a day is like 150$... A WEEK

completely agree with the sugars, processed foods, and anything artificial really.
Makes sense that the more natural and unprocessed a food is, the better it is for us since we were meant to be eating those foods and not processed. Its crazy how backwards the FDA is though with corporations trying to push all this unhealthy crap down our throats
I also think GMOs are going to have a hugely negative impact on the way our bodies function in near futurefecalpheliac

Gotta agree with OP. Since cutting grains completely I've felt so much better. I too have also cut out dairy(except Kefir, which everyone should make & consume). I did it for health reasons, but have also noticed increased energy, libido & strength. It is more expensive as you're eating loads of meat, but I don't even use protein shakes anymore, so save there.

Have to agree with op here.
Cut out dairy (except for grass fed butter) and cit out all processes foods and grains for the most part (I'll cheat every once in awhile) and my well being, energy, and strength has never been better. I was eating 4,000 calories a day at one point and felt like I was losing fat.
Feels good brahs.
A good book to read would be Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. Highly recommend it to everyone.Balls dangle lower than my dick crew

was gonna say horrible conclusion but it might not be. Slow metabolism? not for me. I get the opposite of slow when the smart G.I. tract doesnt like something. and "clog" our liver is good but it might be more then the liver but whatever is at most distress for that persons specific body like small intestine etc as well.
Ive cut out gluten and I think digestion is better and possibly other things like mood. Taste of food and placing your choices by it is so... human and not need every day..... every meal... every thought lol

Ive never understood why people argue about IIFYM. The concept is true, no doubt. You cant argue with simple thermodynamics. But its important for everyone to try both styles, eat whatever you want as long as meeting macros, and completely "clean" eating while meeting same macros. If you feel better on the clean diet, then obviously do it. Personally i prefer to eat a "clean" diet because i feel so much better doing it. I think the point im making is listen to your body.

I have a desk job. i eat LOTS of bananas, spinach, broccoli, blueberries, tilapia, eggs, steak and chicken.
eggs, almonds and steak
will do. i am about 16 weeks out. I just thought this past month was so crazy in terms of body composition, mood, sex drive (test), stregth, etc that i would get the misc's thoughts. this is not a "hey look at me thread"
not to mention strength gains, fat loss, mood, energy levels....pretty much everything....imnoting

Did you start a test cycle in the past month or something?
A month is no time to be able to tell the difference between eating 'clean' and IIFYM OP (In regards to body composition, not feelings of wellbeing). Yes, you probably feel better from eating the way you do now from the vitamins/minerals you're getting from unprocessed food, but it's people like you who rape IIFYM for all it's worth eating sh*te all the time to fit your macros, that give it a bad name. Personally, I use IIFYM as a tool of moderation when dieting, whereby I get the majority of my macros from whole, unprocessed foods while still leaving room for a small treat if I fancy it.
You probably felt like sh*t using IIFYM because you weren't eating enough whole foods, but your point about IIFYM not working is laced with broscience and not backed up by any solid points. Clogging up the liver? Slowing the metabolism?? Nikkuh please.'You really think someone would do that, just go on the internet and tell lies?'

What tha fuq should we eat then? Don't exaggerate the effects on the body, it's pretty minuscule.. Dairy is healthy in many ways. Hit your macro's, 500-1000calories into deficit, carb cycle & eat whole foods, fruits, vegetables etc. Do your cardio, work your ass off in the gym. Sleep, rest and give it time.. 3 months and you're ripped..
