I believe that Samir Bannout does not get near the recognition he deserves. This man looked awesome at his victory when he finally beat his water problems.
Tell me this man gets his just due;
Who do you think fails to get their justly earned recognition from the Mr Olympia ranks from Scott to today? Pics a plus to help build your case!

Who do you believe is the most under-appreciated Mr. Olympia of all time?

My first thought was Lee Haney. Even though he has 8 Sandows in his den I've seen people on this forum describe his physique as 'boring" because he didn't have any outstanding body parts, lol.
Zane gets a lot of grief, mostly from guys who weren't even born when he won, but is consistently mentioned in discussions about asthetics.
Samir Bannout is probably the most overlooked Mr. Olympia though (as one of only 3 guys who only won once), I don't see his name come up often enough.Last edited by Nikonguy; 06-29-2013 at 07:59 AM.

People seem to single a few people out when they talk about the great "Mr. O's" in history: Arnold, Sergio, Yates, Coleman, Cutler. People like Haney, Dickerson, Zane, Dexter, and Bannout get looked over a lot.
For my money, I think Haney gets maybe half the recognition he deserves. He absolutely dominated his era.

Haney. For an 8 time Mr O he hes hardly ever mentioned, at least on these boards. Really amazing physique, good guy and i believe one of the best backs ever, Coleman like in terms of width and thickness top to bottom. Also retired with 8 titles and more years in the tank, superb when you think about it.

Another vote for Haney. That he maintained such good quality in his physique over all that time makes his 8 years at the top all the more impressive. But I'm not sure he's under-appreciated as such - he just preceded the internet and pro bb'ing has progressed since his time (which also applies to Arnie but he's a special case).

Only for a few years. Flex and Levrone burned out by the early 2000's. 1998 and 1999 and 2000 he was a dominant champion. Beat the whole 90's crew and did it even more convincingly than Dorian. 2001 was close, 2002 he was really off and barely beat a washed up Levrone, 2003 he was great, but only real challenge was Jay, when Dex is a top 3 guy you know things went downhill. Same with 04 and 05, great wins, but not a huge depth, even Gustavo managed to crack the top few spots.
Bodybuilding is just now coming back from the mid 2000's slump where all anyone had to look forward to was Jay and Ronnie.
Haney had ALOT of guys who came in amazing shape at every show. Fortunately for him they were also smaller guys, nobody with his frame had the shape to match him. Gaspari and Makkaway were just too small to take him down.
