Why then, given this fact, do you folks immediately go into denial mode when the topic of muslim terror comes up?

If Islam is not the motivator behind the daily violence in Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afganistan etc, etc, then what is? These people are Muslim, and they are committing terror....correct? For the record I believe the Islamic threat to the West is overplayed. But that still does not change the reality of what's happening throughout the ME.

Correlation vs causation brah.
You often see violence between Sunnis and Shiites not necessarily just because they have a religious difference but often because one groups has more political or economic power than the other. Sunnis usually don't go out and kill Shiites just because they believe Abu Bakr should've succeeded Mohammed rather than Ali or some other difference between them and therefore they must die and vice versa.

Right.
So...
1) They're both religious extremists
2) Some of the Muslim extremists are also murderers.
One may wonder though, what if the Westboro nuts had the numbers?
Would they continue to merely rustle jimmies at funerals? Or would their numbers give them the illusion of power and corrupt them further into becoming murderers? And David said, "The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." I thought everyone knew this OP? Islamic terrorists generally murder other Muslims. Of course it's easier for Abdul McFailure to kill the guy next door than fly over to a civilised country and kill innocent civilians there. In any event, while Islamic terrorists might have a preference for Jewish/US/Western targets, their real intention is to completely destabilise the ME and usher in a glorious Caliphate rulership for everyone.
So if it's killing other Muslims to help topple the current government or killing Americans to entice killer drones into flying overhead, it's all the same to them. Chaos and death in the name of Islam and damn anyone who gets in the way, no matter what their faith."A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand."

Of course. It would work about as well as the glorious soviet revolution in Russia...actually, probably less well. They are quite analogous, lots of death and killing to bring in the utopia...oh look if you bring about the ideal government in this way, apparently you have a bunch of soulless killers running the country and everything goes horribly wrong.

In the past hundreds of years, the main casualties of Christian terrorism were Christian. WW1, WW2, Croat-Serb wars, Jasenovac concentration camp, Rwandan Civil War & Genocide, etc.
But it doesn't stop you from bitching about Muslim terrorists, does it?Last edited by BalkanPrince; 06-29-2013 at 07:13 AM.
