    Fitbit

I've recently been eating around 2600 cals a day but then I got a fitbit. 2600 cals was what MFP had me at lightly active. But on my fitbit it has me burning 3100 cals a day without me logging any exercise. Completely and solely based on steps and active minutes. So should I be eating 2-300 cals over what fitbit has or should I assume that number is too high?

Also, the 2600 cals was working pretty good but the same day I put on my fitbit was the same day my new summer job started which keeps me active but I am scared to eat that many calories.

Determine it empirically. Use the Fitbit number or a TDEE estimate, calibrate calories accordingly, monitor weight change and adjust as required.

Once again Wonderpug has pretty much said exactly what to do.

If it is an active job there is a very good change you could be burning an additional 700 calories...Especially if you are on your feet moving around for 8+ hours a day. If you think it is that inacurate though stay at the 2600 and see what weight in says. If you lost like 1.5 pounds than you can obviously assume that you are now indeed burning more calories..

I did some research on the fitbit a while back and I got the impression if anything it would udner calculate your calories if anything...It goes off of movement so if you are lifting weights at the gym it won't recognize all those calories because you are not walking around as much...Just what I determined from research, so not sure how accurate this thought process is.

Yeah thats what I got aswell. Because it just measures unexercised TDEE. So potentially 3100 should be low but for a person my size that seems massive. But I guess we will find out!
