    Benching

I just bought this bench and barbell off craigslist for 100$ and then went to dunhams and got two 45 lb plates for another 85$ I don't really want to spend any more money for weights at the moment and am wondering cause at the moment benching a plate is like 7-9 reps for me. I have a set of 25s at home and am wondering how do I progress from just a plate to a plate and 25 without using like 5s or 10s( don't want to buy those small weights yet)

get a gallon of water and tie it to the bar(both sides) You could also fill it with sand.

Only way to know if you can bench 185 is to go out and try to lift it. Other than that you're pretty SOL until can get a proper amount of plates.
