I dont really blame the guy. Chances are he didnt know how to help anyway, and if there wasnt a serious problem, some weirdo chit woulda led to him losing his job. Plus i'm sure a bit of shock set in.

A place like that he should be some what trained to handle that kind of emergency. Calling 911 and basic CPR, I dont work in a gym but we are told what to do if there is an emergency and my work offers free CPR classes, we also keep a list of employees that have there CPR cards. Not say he could have saved her but he should have taken some action and not been confused on what to do.

even if you know cpr, but are not comfortable/unsure of your abilities there is nothing that says you must do something (obviously this will vary in your state/country).
I think calling 911 is the best thing he could do... i dont see how the situation could of been any different had he entered the bathroom and did nothing anyway.
i hate how society has this need to sue...

Why does the article read as if she collapsed and died BECAUSE they guy wouldn't enter the locker room. Him not entering the locker room had nothing to do with why she collapsed. And even if this poor bastard was a trained paramedic; what is he going to do with no equipment? As long as he sat his azz behind that desk and called 911 he isn't liable for chit.

Not the guys fault at all, I would be the same way, would lose your job if you rushed into female change rooms, how was he supposed to know she was dying? What would him going in there do anyway, he's probably not a doctor.
Thought id lost him, was taking slash in toilet, chatting to one my mates about a house im thinking of renting and from inside the cubicle I hear I can confirm, I am house.

Unless it's immediate family, never helping anyone in this situation regardless of my said knowledge in any type of medical assistance crew.
There was a nursing home around here where an old guy was dying and the nurse who was CPR certified refused to do CPR on him and he died. Had she done CPR and he still died, she would have been sued into oblivion. Sure, she could have maybe saved his life, but what if she didn't? Her life is then ruined.
It may be morally wrong, but this country is so corrupt when it comes to lawsuits that the risk of getting sued for everything you own isn't worth it imo. Call the police and if someone else wants to help, maybe give them instructions, maybe - but in this country even that may get you sued.

Yeah, I you were smart you'd never help anyone in that situation. It's sad that the legal system makes it so that you put yourself at risk for helping someone, but phuck it. Planet Fitness goers are just the type of people who dream of winning a big lawsuit.

Now they will be sued for doing nothing, I work at Costco and over the years males have had to come into the women's restroom few times for medical reason's , not once have I ever hear ANYONE say they should not be in there. Even if that were the case he should have got the proper help, in a place like a gym where people are exerting them self's there is a high risk for someone passing out. They should have least had some kind of "how to handle " it in place. I don't think they are responsible but I would like to think that they are trained to do more than nothing in a gym.
