Are deadlifts necessary to gain mass? srs

I was going to follow Coolcicadas wellknown Push/pull/legs/repeat routine. He has no deadlifts, has BB rows instead because DL will apparently fatigue you to much before next legs day.
And I just wanted to know whether deadlifts are actually necessary?

There is no single exercise that is necessary to put on mass. That doesn't mean you shouldn't do them.

Man. I don't even know. I do compound lifts while my buddy does machine exercises only, unless it's something like dumbell curls (no barbell/dumbbell exercises). And I can guarantee I lift more than him, but he can easily post me up in basketball. Maybe cuz he's got like 20+lbs on me. but still..

I prefer pendlay rows over deadlifts by far. I don't see deadlifts as necessary at all. If you want to do them, do them. If not don't.

I deadlift around 455 for reps when I do feel like doing them. Not a staple in my workout though

Honestly seems like squat has a higher correlation with the amount of muscle someone carries. Almost noone at my gym who squats 500lb+ is small. However, there are some guys who move quite a bit of weight on dead but don't look very impressive.

    Deadlifts are overrated as hell

Rows are way better for back development, and they are less risky

I do Romanian dead lifts on leg day to target my hamstrings and lower back... They are a staple in my specific routine but it depends on a few things as far as your goals and full regimine.

Double overhand deadlifts are the best lift IMO, none of that dangerous mixed chit.
They give you godly grip strength and you have a very low chance of injuring yourself while reaping all of the benefits of mixed grip deads.

That being said, of course no single lift is necessary.

If you wanna lift like a man then definitely do deadlifts. My lower back is huge only because I've been doing deadlifst. Only exercise that can develop lower to mid longitudinal muscles of back is deadlifts not rows. As a part of back development, deadlifts, yes.Of course you have to do rows and other stuff to make a good back though.

Allow me to pick this apart real quick.

    Premise: Lifting for two years

    Premise: Recently started doing deadlifts

    Premise: Nothing has changed

    Conclusion: Deadlifts are not effective

    What are potential flaws?

a)You could have a general lack of nutrition leading to to a plateau.
    b) You could have bad form when exercising leading to ineffective compound lifts
    c) You could use too little or too much weight/repetitions

    Which one is it?
