It sounds like it's getting pretty bad there. Prayers and positive thoughts to all those affected.
You have to train your mind the same way you train your body. You must protect it against the negative and feed it with the positive. Be mindful of what you watch, what you read and who you allow to influence you. Learn to consider your thoughts emotions and actions. Trust your gut face your fears head on and never quit. AJ Roberts

Thanks for the concern folks! Yep, I'm good. Kind of surreal actually..... I'm in the Northeast part of the city and thus have been fine. No flooding here. And I've been on days off so I haven't had to venture out to work.... the airport is in the north too though so I think that's fine by all accounts.
That picture of downtown with the 2 skyscrapers is pretty scary though.... wow... that's right near the Stampede Grounds (where they have all the exhibitions for the Calgary Stampede). I can only imagine what would have happened if the floods had hit 3 weeks from now when thousands more people would have been here from out of province/country.
See that little yellow house in that picture? It's a parking lot all around it there and I was RIGHT THERE a week ago with a buddy. That's where we parked when we went to the Oil & Gas Expo. I guess it's also very lucky that there wasn't any flooding then....
I'm sure I'll hear more when I go into work tomorrow since people in office and the warehouse live all over.

Just heard about that.... crazy!
I wonder if the Saddledome will make it through this? It was getting pretty old already....
Ha. Things would have to get a hell of a lot worse for them to cancel Stampede. That's a HUGE injection of money into the city.... and it's money that's going to be sorely needed now. Still have about 3 weeks to go so if it stops raining soon and people bust azz...

Went out to a park about a 5 min drive from where I am and snapped a few pics.
These are of the Bow River. You can see where the river's SUPPOSED to run (near the top of each pic) and where it's actually overflowing now. I used to go down to those flooded areas on the regular with my buddy when he walked his dogs.
And a close up of come of the multimillion dollar homes that are partially underwater at this point... streets completely washed out in those areas.
Places like Canmore and Kannanaskis got it really bad though. Can't even reach those places because the highway is washed out. Parts of Banff too.

Lord Strathcona's Horse was deployed to Calgary this morning. Not sure all the details since info hasn't flowed well today (everyone ran a 10k/half-marathon race this morning and was most were given the afternoon off).
My Battalion has been stood up in reserve. Currently sitting on 12 hours notice to move.Disclaimer: I am not an expert.

Read that Canmore has been hard hit, we stayed at the Drake there a yr ago and it rained like crazy then too. Ate at Boston Pizza and their parking lot was half submerged. Good luck to everyone involved.

I doubt you're covered for overland flooding (when the water comes through doors and windows above ground). You're likely covered only for leaky basements, a bathtub overflow, maybe a burst pipe in the winter. But the percentage of Canadians who have overland flooding coverage is very small - and even if eligible, it is very expensive.
No drama: You know where we are.
