I really love vegetables and I hate having to limit the amount of spinach, broccoli, lettuce, celery and other low carb vegetables that I eat. Can veggies really take you out of ketosis if lets say i consume like 25 carbs from them per day? I havn't been doing this but I am just wondering since vegetables have a very low gi.

Honestly, I have never eaten this much vegetables until I started doing keto. Some veggies are more sugary, and you will have to stay away from those, otherwise they are ok. The way I do keto, basically on a plate there are vegetables where there used to be carbs, like pasta or barley or whatnot, replaced with spinach and kale.

I take a couple of tablespoons of Spirulina Plantesis, rather than eat vegetables.
It's a photosynthesizing cyanobacteria with a high 'nutrient to weight' ratio and very few carbs.
Easy to measure. Difficult to over eat because it isn't a tempting choice. Taste like jumping into a swamp with your mouth open.
I hate it...but I love it. Mostly just love it. Mostly because I hate it.

You probably speak for everyone here. We all have to make sacrifices to accomplish our fitness objectives. If I could pour bbq sauce all over everything and still be noticeably ripped, I'd be all over it. Welcome to keto. It is an evolutionary trait which was achieved by force of hunger and deprivation, so that we could survive. It is a gift bestowed upon us by our ancestors. It is to be respected. If you wish to use this tool to your advantage, you must endure brief glimpses into the past experience of your gene pool. You are essentially activating a dorment genetic expression. We unlock this ability with the same key now as we did back then. Endure. Get your mind right and everything else is automatic.
I hope this gives you a fresh perspective and inspires you.

Survive! What endurance or scrifices are you talking about. Keto is about the most natural diet, probably the tastiest diet and probably most forgiving in terms of results/effort. Stick of celery and half a tomato will not kick anybody out of ketosys. Roast them in cocnut oil and add a bavarian sausage. Mmmm. Pile of green salad, coupled with fatty chunk of pork chop, what can be better? Or fat-dripping BBQ chicken, who else has a luxury of eating like this and dropping weight in the same time? We traded sticky buns and pasta (and who miss this stuff anyway?) for real food. I can see the whole world going into permanent ketosys one day.

You could be right. However, the ability to store fat could very well have been evolutionary to begin with. I subscribe to this theory.
For a venomous serpent to have fangs is natural but did a serpent always have venom and fangs?
The perceived nature of a thing relies heavily on how far back you look. Did bacteria store glycogen at it's inception?
I honestly don't know but I like a good hype story. With all due respect to your viewpoint.

Spinach: 1 10oz package has 4 gr of carbs after fiber is removed. You could eat 5 of those a day and have room for more food.
Broccoli Flowerets: 10 cups has 28 gr of carbs after fiber is removed.
Lettuce (Iceberg): 1 head (539gr) has 11 gr of carbs after fiber is removed.
Celery: 1 lb (pound!) has 6 gr of carbs after fiber is removed.
Eat your veggies."Arterial plaque is primarily composed of unsaturated fats particularly polyunsaturated ones." (Felton, C V, et al, Lancet, 1994, 344:1195)

From all that I have read, you only need to keep your carbs to 20 or less during induction. After that most people can eat up to 50 per day and some who work out frequently 100. So, just eat some veggies-keep calm and keto on.

Hi, yeah vegetables even cabbage and brocoli do have carbohydrates. You know I have chosen to eat without any vegetables at all, because I am poor, and vegetables are getting very expensive. And I'd rather spend 3 dollars on eggs, or chicken than on a bag of brocoli. The prices of vegetables and fruits are rising real fast. Sooner or later only the upper classes might be able to eat fruits and vegetables in USA. That's why I have dediced to do this keto diet without any green vegetables at all. I think I might take around 10 to 12 grams of carbohydrates a day, 7 grams of carbohydrates from 1 scoop of Body Fortress whey protein powder, and the other grams from eggs

As long as your taking a multi-vitamin daily(I take mine with my post workout shake after lifting daily, as I read somewhere high vitamin C concentration will spike insulin levels), would it be detrimental to not consume veggies if you take a fiber supplement? I have been wondering this for quite sometime as well. Veggie options are not always so great out here in the military DFAC'S of Afghanistan....
