As a tester, one of the things that was required was to see how the protein tasted in 12oz of ice cold water. This works out to be pretty convenient to me because that's my preferred way of drinking protein right now.

So, I filled up a shaker with about 12 or so ounces of cold water and threw a small piece of ice in there. Added a scoop of the banana protein and shook it up.

It mixed completely in the shaker with no power/bits remaining. The consistency and texture is exactly what you would come to expect from Giant Sports. Nice and smooth with a thicker feel to it. That's why I prefer to use 12 - 14oz of water per scoop instead of the normal 6-8oz with a 100% whey shake.

The color is a pale yellow / vanilla color. I will post pics of the actual shake and powder soon.

So I drank the shake and it was very good. Finished it in about 6 sec, haha. Very nice feel to it and very smooth. The banana flavor tastes natural with no signs of artificial sweetener aftertase / bite. It has a lighter taste to it than I was expecting, which is good, because I think a too strong banana flavor is where most companies get this flavor wrong. It also has a hint of vanilla taste to it at the end. I found this to be very appealing because their vanilla protein is in my top 3 all time protein flavors from any company.

Overall, first impression is very positive. I still have a full jug of Trutein banana protein, but my initial reaction is that this flavor is much better than the Trutein banana. I will do a better analysis of the 2 later, so people who have had the Trutein banana can relate to the Giant Sports flavor.

Wanted to get rid of a low container of Muscle-Tech protein before continuing the log.

Now that is out of the way, time to continue.

Had 1 scoop in water with some ice again. Pics below:

Delicious. Again, mixes well, has a light banana taste to it, and then has a vanilla-ish after taste. Very good.

Tried some banana protein in milk today. Had 1 scoop of protein in about 14-16 oz of milk. Mixed up easily and was delicious. The banana flavor wasn't as strong, so if you want a stronger banana flavor and you drink protein in milk, you may want to add another scoop or cut the milk down to 8oz, and fill the rest up with some water.

The texture is very good and it tastes very creamy. There seemed to be more of a vanilla taste present because the banana flavor was lighter due to the milk. Here's a pic:

So far so good. My initial reaction is that Giant Sports nailed this flavor. I will test against the banana Trutein very soon.

You are right with the vanilla aftertaste!

Joe Babick flavored it with hints of vanilla and caramel at the aftertaste for a more intensifying flavor. Glad u managed to pick it out, not many did

Had a scoop of banana protein in water. Was a bit lazy this time and didn't shake it up well so it clumped a bit.

The clumps weren't bad and the shake was still enjoyable. Overall, even if mixed lazily with a spoon or shaker, it's still a good protein. So if you're on the go and need a good powder that you're unsure can mix up well, keep that in mind.

    Review vs Trutein Banana

The comparison: I used about 8oz of water in each shake and 1/2 scoop of protein.

Appearance: The giant sports protein has a lighter, more natural color. The Trutein protein has a more yellowish artificial banana type color.

Texture: The texture of both the shakes was good. Both came out on thick and creamy. A tie here.

Taste: This is where the Giant Sports protein shines. The Trutein protein taste is a little stronger and more of an artificial banana taste. The Giant Sports protein is a nice light banana with a vanilla-ish taste to it. Much more natural and appealing to me. Giant Sports win this easy.

Overall, there's a reason why I'm currently using the Banana protein as my current protein and the Trutein banana protein has been sitting in a cabinet for 6 months. If you like banana and vanilla, you'll love the Giant Sports protein. If you like a stronger banana flavor, you'll like the Trutein protein.

Couldn't agree more. Giant Sport's banana pretty much tastes like there are real bananas in the shake.

Wow, never tried trutein banana but tried the rest. It seems to be a matter of perspective along with a lil biasness when it comes to reviews.

But seeing the way u describe it makes it really logical and straight forward.

Joe flavored banana with an aftertaste that just hits a home run every single time!

Agreed. It's impossible to not have a bit of bias, but the fact of the matter is, I've had enough banana protein to complete my final review at this point.

I could easily switch back to my open cans of Giant Sports Choc PB, Vanilla, or Trutein Banana, but I've been enjoying the Banana flavor a lot will probably run this can until empty until switching.

Since I've been running this log, I've only drank 1 shake of Vanilla and 1 shake of Choc PB.

Speaking of which, I should have my final review up here soon and submit my papers in this coming week.

Had some more protein shakes in water. My tub is about 3/4 empty. At this point, I feel I could give an accurate review on the protein.

    Here it goes:

Appearance (5/5): Soft white color with a yellowish tint. Kind of looks exactly like a peeled banana center. I tend to associate a darker more traditional yellow with a more artificial flavor/taste.

Texture (5/5): Thick, creamy and smooth. Even without milk. This is one of the things I love about Giant Sports proteins. Their protein shakes always come out thick and smooth, even with just cold water.

Taste (4.8/5): My favorite Banana protein shake to date. It didn't get a 5/5 because it's not my all time favorite protein, but that is mainly due to the fact that I like other flavors more than banana. Still, this protein is a great flavor and if you're a banana/vanilla fan, you will absolutely love the flavoring. It has vanilla tones to it and leaves a vanillish aftertaste which is very pleasant.

Nutrition (5/5): 27g of Protein, very little fat and carbs. Can't beat that.

Overall (4.8/5): Overall a very solid protein. I enjoyed the taste of it very much. If you are a banana fan and a vanilla fan, you will absolutely love this protein.

Thanks again to Giant Sports for the opportunity to do this log.
