Out of the box, corvettes are very nice, very fast, and very new for the same price. What's your point?

"Average" sports cars do not handle up to 1000hp on a stock bottom end. "Average" sports cars don't get nearly the same HP out of simple BPU mods.
And yes, I am a huge zo6 fan as well.

wow, talk about a lot of turbo lag....it took that sucker awhile to spool.
Supras are cool, but they are definitely overpriced for a car that old. Same price tag gets you a vette with a built motor and TT package, I'd prefer the LSx's power range. Not that I'd ever complain if someone gave me a Supra, heh.

All that proves is that with enough money, you can make anything fast. That doesn't make it cool though.
They may "pwn" but I firmly stand by my original statement

Ok, but they are nowhere near the same price, considering you can only buy MKIV Supras second hand.

Japanese cars are restricted in their power outputs by a "gentleman's agreement". exhaust, cooler, fuel cut defender and you've got a very very fast car.

Actually read what I'm saying this time.
Stock '97 Supras with low miles sell regulalry for $30k plus. This is a 10 y/o used car. That is "wow strong retardedness" if I've ever seen it.
I could go buy a brand new GT Mustang off the lot and easliy beat your stock 10 y/o used car. We won't even go into the cost of aftermarket parts here
I'm not a mustang fan at all so don't even go there. That was just an example. People just get way too wrapped up in all the hype surrounding it

They cost because they are popular. That isn't the fault of the car.
Even taking into account your 'I'm not a Mustang fan', why the **** would you want to buy a new GT?

Well obviously not. Then we'd be talking about 1400bhp Supras.

I would never buy a new GT. I pick on mustangs in my SUV
Do you at least see my point? You can make anything fast with $$$$, but that doesn't justify the inflated price of the car. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
I'm a "No replacement for displacement" guy so we can agree to disagree. Here's my ride if you're interested. Black one on the left

I'm not seeing what all the hype is about. A supra is an average sports car. Here are some times I found for them:
1983 Toyota Supra 8.9 16.8
1984 Toyota Supra 8.7 16.8
1986 Toyota Supra 7.0 15.4
1988 Toyota Supra 7.9 16.0
1989 Toyota Supra Turbo 6.6 15.2
1991 Toyota Supra Turbo 7.1 15.6
1993 Toyota Supra Turbo 4.6 13.1 (C&D Mar '93)
1994 Toyota Supra 6.9 15.2
1994 Toyota Supra Turbo 5.3 13.7
1995 Toyota Supra Turbo 5.1 13.5
1997 Toyota Supra Turbo 5.1 13.6
The above data is from http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html
As for comparing them to an LSX vehicle, it's not very fair to the supra. I'm not saying there are not a handful of cars that have been modded to go very fast, but for the money, it would be a lot cheaper to mod any of the LSX cars to go insanely fast.

With an $400 exhaust, yum cha intercooler, $50 fuel cut defender and $20 bleed valve you have a low 12 second car, on a cold night you might crack 11's

Which model? Because if you're saying you can shave 5 seconds off a 1/4 mile time by exhaust, cooler air, and a fuel cut bypass, I say no way. You may be able to shave 0.5 to 1.0 second...tops.
