Excessive tanning plays a big part imo. I believe that the concept of bodybuilding (lifting weights to increase lean muscle mass, whilst using diet to lower bodyfat) is an incredibly healthy one. I believe that concept has anti ageing benefits. Obviously the extremes, such as heavy drug use will eventually have a negative effect though. I use the word eventually, as in the short term, combined with youth, those drugs will enhance image. So we get used to see these guys young, tanned, oiled, shaved, pumped and buffed to the gills...then all that stops and father time takes over. There are exceptions to the rule though. Big Louie Ferrigno is in his 60's and looks incredible for one.

It is universally well known, that in digesting our common food, there is created or produced in the bowels of human creatures, a great quantity of wind. That the permitting this air to escape and mix with the atmosphere, is usually offensive to the company, from the fetid smell that accompanies it. That all well-bred people therefore, to avoid giving such offence, forcibly restrain the efforts of nature to discharge that wind.

No ****! As a dude who basically worshiped Platz back in the 80's its so disheartening to see everyone make their ridiculous remarks in an attempt to be cute or clever. Dude would kill most everyone here in the gym in his days and he is a predecessor to the beasts we see out there nowadays. Much Respect to the Greatest to never win the O, and that's just because he refused to take his legs down a notch. I do respect the older dudes that stay at it and Tom isnt near a shred of what he once was, but his history alone deserves the respect of every true bodybuilder out there who tries to kill it in the gym 6 or 7 days a week!

Trust me bro, nobody is disrespecting or laughing at Tom with any malice. Everyone knows what he accomplished and everyone here takes a bow to the name Tom Platz. He truly deserves the title legend. I feel proud to say my 1RM would probably have been too light for Tom to warm up on back in his day. Fact is though, he is wearing a very ugly shirt and has the hair style of a 70 year old lesbian in that pic. I don't know about you, but any time I've ever gotten a bad hair cut or worn crappy clothes, my family and friends have been more than happy to point and laugh at me...and they love me. It's all banter and in good spirit.

Didn't think it was Rick's wife cus I scrolled down slowly and recognized Tom's face immediately...but I get what y'all are sayin cus as I noticed the clothes, I was like "dafuq is all this?" and an image of an old wife also just came to mind, lol. Maybe it's the pants. The shirt could probably pass if he had other pants, but I dunno.

as a person of the same age, and having faced the reality that you will never look as you did in your salad days, I would NEVER comment on how he looks , bodybuilding wise, compared to years ago...
however: there is no reason for him to look ghey, unless he is, which is his own private business, I guess....Lift as MUCH as you can, for as MANY reps as you can,
while in complete control of the exercise.
