Hey guys,
Had my first meet Saturday, the Newfoundland Provincials and it was so awesome. What an atmosphere. Everyone was so supportive and I felt very welcomed.
I went to have a look the night before at how it was set up (in a gymnasium) and weighed in. I was 105.25 so I got worried. But it was 8pm at this point so I said sipping on water and weighing in at 8am I should have no problems. I didn't eat until after the morning weigh ins and all went well.
At the gear check I was told I wasn't allowed to use my knee wraps (I misunderstood before thinking I could) so I dropped my opener squat down 5kg to ensure I got it super easy to build confidence.
My lifts:
Squat:
195 - flew up so I kept with my original plan (when I thought I could use knee wraps)
215 - went up fairly easy so I went for a PB w/o wraps
222.5 - Grinded a bit but still had another 10kg in me.
This is 215 I believe, love the puff face.
Bench:
140
152.5
157.5 - All were too easy. By now I was so excited I felt super human. I should've done something closer to 150, 160 and 165
DL:
215
235
250 - All of these were too light again. When I hit the 235 I qualified for the Canadian Nationals so I was so pumped. But every rep flew up. If I had this time back I would have tried for 230, 255 and 270+.
I had a blast and want to do another one as soon possible. Thanks for all the advice I got on this board while prepping. I don't have a video yet but I'm looking to see if anyone recorded the thing.
Also, is anyone planning on going to Canadian Raw Nationals next year?
