    Hate the taste of tuna

I like the consistency of tuna but don't really like the actual taste to the stuff. Does anybody have any recepies using tuna?

    Would be greatly appreciated

If it's convenience factor, canned salmon isn't so expensive depending on the brand and tastes pretty good (milder, sweeter) than tuna.

Would just say "if you don't like it don't eat it" but that has been said, so to answer the question... I used to mix it with various types of salsa, made it taste pretty good actually; thankfully I am no longer on dat der bro time and just eat foods I enjoy.

What is it about the consistency you like? Because if you cook it or even mix it with something else, the consistency is likely to change and then the whole thing will be moot

    I love canned tuna.

    With LOTS of mayo.

As such I don't eat a lot of canned tuna. Problem solved!

Before being convinced by this forum that there are health issues associated with consumption of tuna (mercury contamination, to be exact), I used to douse a can of it with Frank's and slug it down.

Unless you are a rich man and eating bluefin I wouldn't worry about it. Albacore tuna has show a lot less mercury accumulation in recent years.

I've read that too, but have become suspicious enough of the entire industry to just step away from all but infrequent tuna consumption.

Something I like to do is cook the tuna in a frying pan with a little olive oil. Then cook a tortilla in the same pan, put the cooked tuna inside, and throw some cheese in with it, then fold the tortilla over on itself.

    BOOM, tuna melt quesadilla

If you really must eat tuna.... Put so much mayo and pickles into it that it becomes impossible to taste the tuna. Winning!

They make canned chicken too... Same texture, different flavor.

If you want tuna instead, but hate the fishy taste, rinse it thoroughly in a colander under cold running water for 30 seconds. Let drain while you chop the onion, tomato, celery, and yellow celery leaves. Rinse and dry the onion the same way to remove the harshness. Mix with salt, pepper, mayo, and a dash of vinegar or citrus juice.

Or you could buy fresh tuna steaks. Marinate them, cook them all the way through, and shred them. Seems like a waste to me, but it's all about what you enjoy.

When my wife would use canned chicken (for herself) I would refer to it as "cat food chicken". Nasty stuff.

I agree, but some people like the convenience of it. Funny how canned tuna fish sounds way more appealing than canned chicken.

Chopped onion, sauteed in olive oil, mix in drained tuna, sprinkle on curry powder to taste, serve over rice with a healthy dose of sriracha. This is pretty much one of two ways I only ever eat canned tuna. The other being mixed with dill relish and put into a wrap with veggies.
