    Back pain during deadlift?

    Hello

first of all I am so excited that I finally joined this website !!

second of all, i have been actively working on the 35lb barbells adding 25lb as max for around 6 months, hence my routine.

i stopped doing deadlifts and when i tried q "free-weight" dead-lift to remember the form, my back hurt like hell !

*i should squeeze my shoulder-blades, my spine straight and lift the babrbell, but why do i have pain when i try to make my back STRAIGHT? im confused ? only when i squeeze my shoulder-blades this happen

you're not supposed to squeeze your shoulder blades. Leave them alone and pull the weight off the floor.

You shouldn't be squeezing your shoulder blades, just make sure to keep your shoulders back and your back straight. It took me a few months to get my form right, it takes awhile but once you get it, it becomes second nature.

Agreed it's more of making sure you keep your shoulder back. Record yourself doing DL, you will probably be surprised what form errors you are making when you watch yourself doing the lift. It's always helpful to post it up on the site too and people can point out things you may be missing.
